KUT cropped straights, new high shaft boots: Calgary 10.22

I had an hour at Chinook Cr yesterday in Calgary, so blew through J Crew (terrible, very little merchandise, a lot of junky accessories and do-dads, and the highest prices ever for just so-so quality- it was a real disappointment - how are they even still in the b&m business? ) Zara (lots of cool outerwear, long vests, interesting knit sleeveless tunics with self belts, and lots of interesting boots and hats) Topshop (just so so, not great quality in the clothes) and Nordstrom (best it's looked yet with some different lines and happier looking SA's; footwear dept was really disappointing though ..just a sea of versions of the same bootie look , very few tall boots, and nothing in the mid-shaft height save for a $1200 pair of Jimmie Choos) . Picked up a pair of KUT cropped straights with the undone hem I am currently obsessed with , and a pair of gorgeous diamond creeper earrings. I now feel like a real YLF'r with my KUT jeans, lol. I like the fit, and the length is perfect for me. These are the new boots that I bought two pair of (haha) which sit just under the hem of the jeans . I have not taken off these boots in two days now. They are that great. The picture makes them look a little rounder and heavier than they really are. I never know how to take a selfie and include my feet without throwing off the angle and proportions completely. Anyways - now that I know my KUT size, I'll be open to more styles of them.

Re Nordies shoes....it's not better down here at the Mothership in downtown Seattle. They seem to be stocking what will probably sell rather than anything really different.

Really nice! I like that jeans/boot style combo a lot, and now I'm going to miss the C/E jeans while I have them altered.

Just curious, you mention Kut jeans, but the Find in your post is Current/Elliot. Are those Kut jeans in your photo? Do you have a link to those?

I really appreciate your review of the stores you shopped. I've had very similar feelings about my J Crew and literally wondered the same exact thing as I walked out of there yesterday. I just ordered three pair of Kut from the Kloth Diana Jeans in black, grey, ink. I hope to look as good in mine as you do in yours. You look amazing.

With the exception of a pretty basic sweater or tee here and there, I have been underwhelmed by Jcrew lately. It doesn't help that I've pretty much given up on anything of theirs fitting my lower half properly, but even the top fits seem to have gotten straighter.

The nearest Nordstrom to me has suffered a bit, but it's a very small store in a very conservative market, so I end up shopping online or going to the one an hour away. We do have a Zara now though! I saw some interesting trendy pieces there, and came home with a fun printed top.

I heard that Jcrew is in trouble in Canada, and their recent price increases won't help that situation one bit. It will be interesting to see how they fare going forward. I wonder if they will adopt the BR formula of constant sales?

Looks great! Makes me want a pair of those KUT jeans but not sure I can justify another pair of jeans right now.

I hear you all on jcrew - I used to rely on them so much and lately the quality has caused me to return most things I've purchased.

I have been disappointed with J.Crew this season. I usually LOVE their knitwear and coats, but the styles are the same in the colours that I like.

Zara, the Loft and Topshop have been great. H&M has been quite good too.

I've found that Nordstrom footwear has a much better selection online - the assortment is five times as big. They have an excellent knitwear and jeans assortment this year. Dresses look better too.
