K/S Bringing up the caboose on the Spiegel Jacket Lemming Train

Can you even stand another one? It really looks great on everyone. I got the best price ($34 shipped) and I do like the jacket. I'm just not sure if it's really my style and I don't have lemming/sale goggles. I need honest opinions so I can see if Deborah or someone else would like this one.
I only styled it based on an outfit I saw Rae wear (but can 't find now since there are 10,000 matches to "Spiegel draped jacket"). Kind of Marlon Brando in the day? Ok I found it http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ed-shifted
I got a 12 which is my normal jacket size (although for outerwear I usually size up for layering options) and it feels just right, but not oversized. I would never wear this closed (but have shown it in all its pulling glory). I don't think I would wear to work either which limits its wear even more for me.
Tell me true - can it work for this old preppy or is it more appropriate for someone else.

I think it fits just fine! As for whether the prep in you likes it, I can't speak to. Sigh, I sure wish my FedEx people would come around . . .

I like this on you. Kind of fun to experiment with it at a lower price point, even though I had a black moto on my master list previously.

I think that the off-center lower snap is the problem for several of us, including me. As I mentioned in Una's thread earlier, I plan to either wear it open or snap the two top center snaps together and fold it down an inch or two for a different look. This achieved some drapiness. Will see if it makes sense to add a more centered towards the middle snap once I am wearing it more.

You look so cool with this styling. And I think it looks fantastic open. I bought it too and, like you, it's unstructured for my usual style. I am keeping it because it's a new/different shape for me and I didn't spend too much to try it. While it's not preppy, I don't feel it's too 'costumey' for you either. However, if you don't think you'll wear it or if you have to "force" yourself to wear it, perhaps you should pass it along.

That snap pulls on me too. I'm pretty sure it's a design flaw since if it's doing it on tall you then it's not just that I'm too short for it.

I like it and for the price think it is worth keeping and playing around with. You never know if this is a style you will mover toward in your retirement years. (I only say this because that is what I thought when I ordered it for myself.)

Even Brooks Brothers are showing leather motos nowadays. I think you can definitely wear it with preppy classics for winter.

Thank you so much for all the encouragement to branch out of my preppy rut. I will give this a few more styling tries to be sure. I'm not sure what gives me the most pause, the unstructured, the drapeyness (way out of my comfort zone) or the asymmetry (I have poison eye for anything asymmetric). I have wanted a moto, but was thinking something structured and a lighter color or navy, but the ones I've found thus far have scuba necks and the collars drive me batty.
That's the one Rae! Hope you weren't offended by my poor imitation. I'll definitely have more fall mixing options once I start trading over my closets.

I also agree that it looks great on you! I had the same hesitation about asymmetrical styles - and I worried about it being too "tough" for me. But once I tried it on I realized that I could use a little tough - in fact I often turn away from clothing because it's too "sweet" with small florals or certain patterns, ruffles or other design attributes that I worry don't suit me. Maybe now I can wear some of those items with this jacket. I would wear it open probably all of the time and it only looks asymmetrical to me when it's closed.

Plus it's so darned comfortable and I think the quality feels pretty good.

Well for that price you can wear it through F/W on the weekends and then make money on it if/when you decide to consign it, lol! I think it's a great experiment. in the end, I think you're either going to feel it or not, and you'll know once you wear it in public a few times. Rest assured that it looks great on you and works for your style!

I really like the look on you! Maybe the snap can be moved so it doesn't pull when closed, but since you plan to wear it open anyway, it probably doesn't matter than much.

I think this look works. I have always loved the versatile lapels on jackets like this. I think it really works with the horizontal stripes and lighter jeans.

I am not loving the fit when its closed. I think you may need to size up if you want to wear it closed otherwise it looks great
