K/R: yet another pair of gold zipper boots

These are by Kat Maconie, via MyHabit. I got a great discount, but they were still quite expensive so they need to be 10s. They are very well made and the leather feels like butter. Shaft height and calf circumference are good. There is some bunching around the lower leg. (Sigh.) Also, I fear they make my legs look short.

What does YLF think?

(PS- also the striped knit skirt in the last two photos is new. The waist is a little big but I wouldn't want to size down. Keep or return?)

I know I'm going to be alone on this one but they are a smidget too short, about 1/2 an inch. They will look shorter as they scrunch with use. Just be aware that I seem to be the only one here, who likes the super tall boots, so take my words with a huge grain of salt.

Are you good with the length? Otherwise, they are gorgeous.

Oh, I forgot to comment on the skirt: I like it.

No, I agree, zap. I think that's actually why I think they make my legs look short.

Remember these, that were too tall? I actually liked the way they looked but i couldn't really bend my legs.

Trust me, I know your predicament. I have been looking for a pair of low heel black boots with just the right length and width all winter. I just placed another huge order, This will be my last one though.

I am also unwilling to compromise.

Did you ever tried those cole Haans?

Yeah, they were just slightly too tall (could feel them when I bent my knees) and also a little too tight at one spot on the calf.

I like the skirt, and I don't mind the length of the boots at all. But I love mid-calf boots, especially with skirts. How do these look with skinnies? Would you even wear them that way? If you're wanting more of a tall, riding boot look, these may be too short once they soften up.

Rae, I'm specifically looking for something tall and sleek. I have lots of mid-calf boots already. I would probably actually wear these with skinnies more than with skirts, I was just too lazy to go put some on! I prefer a tall shaft height with skinnies.

Does the bunching at the lower shin bug you guys?

ETA: Zap, you can bet I'll be keeping an eye out for boots this weekend! I have 2 weeks to return these so I don't have to decide until after NY.

No, I have relaxed on that one. It bothers me less when the boot is looser on top. ETA: That's a plan then. Mochi saw a couple styles that might have worked for you at SoHo last time we met. Perhaps we can pass by.

Gorgeous boots, but I can't give them a 10. The bunching isn't terrible, but it makes me wonder if the boot really has the shaft height you want, but is losing an inch slouching?

Does the bunching bother me? In a word, yes. These are supposed to be your sleek boots. I don't think the fit is perfect. Believe me, I know how challenging this quest is. But you're not quite there yet....don't settle for these.

As boots they are great, but reading the comments, it seems pretty clear they are not the boots you are looking for,...return

I agree with Mochi - a pain I know but you won't be happy with these if you want sleek:)

I agree--not sleek enough. The bunching bothers me--it'll only get worse.

Thanks, everyone. OK, pretty sure I am returning. They are too expensive to keep if they are not perfect.

GirlX, good point about the slouching... I think you might be right about losing some shaft height to it. I wonder if this is why I can't really use shaft height to predict whether a boot will be the right height for me.

Ariadne, those were the first ones I tried. They were extremely galoshy on me. I actually saw someone wearing them the other day and they fit her like they are supposed to. Sigh.

Yeah, the bunching bugs me too. I like bunching just fine, but not in a boot that looks like it's supposed to be sleek. Too bad, cuz it looks like a comfortable, high-quality boot :/
