It's a WOW! The only problem I see with your wearing this dress is that you will probably outshine the bride

So glad you are keeping it. You look SO fab:)
Beth Ann;
This dress is bold, but not BOLD! Does your *environmental norm* include dozens in your line of work? What voice students who aspire to sing opera would want a teacher who projects no drama at all? This chorus is singing to you in one voice, "Keep it!!! You look FAB!!!"
I agree with the others - this dress is Wow/bold in a good way. Not overpowering or over the top. You look fab.
On my way to sleep now. I won't be wearing this tomorrow, since it's a day at the ZOO, although it does resemble a zebra print!

Thanks for your sharp eyes and encouraging spirits!

Donna: You are right --- this is the way professional singers dress. My students are mostly music education majors and rarely seek to shine themselves. Part of my task is to convince them that when you shine, everyone benefits from the light! A good performer should illuminate, not cast others in shadow, but certainly not stand in the shadows herself!

Hmmm. Preaching to myself again.
I know you're keeping it already but that is one. fab. dress. You look amazeballs!

I am just thinking of all the awesome ways you could accessorize! There is so much possibility with a great graphic perfect-fitting dress like this!

<3
AAAHHH! AAAHHH!!! *PLONK*

Good thing I was wearing my polka dot crash helmet! Passing the smelling salts to Suz and Angie as well.

My favorite dress on you ever! Perfect fit and style and print for you! And you look like a model! I didn't notice any chin issues (but I totally sympathize, because I feel like the overhead lights at my picture location casts shadows and emphasizes my apple tummy). I wouldn't have thought you were turning 50--you look much younger!

You must wear this dress often! And I totally would wear this zebra print to the zoo, but that's me--I love hypermatchy!
You look beautiful in this dress Beth Ann- and don't worry about the 'number'-it is perfect fit and flattery that counts- you have nailed these!!
You look fantabulous! I think this dress will be super versatile - work, wedding, date night... I can even see it as a skirt with a solid colour knit sweater over as a top.

I had to log back in and say WOW! Love it and glad you are keeping it. My brand new coral crash helmet with silver racing stripe has just been christened ( tribute to GP's new thread!)
A killer frock!!!! Love everything about it! The bl&w zebra print, the shift cut, the high neck and the pockets!!!!!!!! My god, this not only communicate but also transfers some of your creative energy to those who see you!
I discovered shift dresses 2 years ago and since then I have purchased some of this kind finding them the most flatering siloutte on a size12/14, which am myself too:-).
Not seeing any double chins at all, so pls. be kind!
just wanted to chime in that i love the dress! i think it looks great, and i also love the pockets! the jacket and the belt really change the look, and i'm sure that playing with footwear will also give you different options.

i find dresses to be really hard to "size" as often our tops and bottoms are not the same size.

i know its a cliche, but remember that size is just a number, and if you feel good and look good, then it is good.
I don't really have anything of substance to add other than...

Holy smokes! You look absolutely amazing in this dress!

Oh, I ran for a cup of coffee and had a debombshelling idea for this dress. How about a utility jacket or lightweight boyfriend style cardigan?

Have you tried layering underneath yet? I think this would be adorable with a denim shirt layered under.

Joining the chorus! You looking amazing in this dress, and it will lend itself to so many different interpretations with a simple change of accessories. Love!

I am not fully fortified with YLF power! Thanks, everyone!

Some great suggestions, too!

Hil -- you could layer over with a sweater and still have a a working skirt -- great idea for a travel capsule.

Tracey -- I've not yet tried layering under, although, because I was realistic about size I CAN! Whee! The utility idea is a great one. I have two -- in black and raspberry. Of course, I would have those colors instead of khaki. At least they're not sequined!

Kkcards: footwear should be an interesting way to play with the look!

Going shopping for crash helmets........

Emphatic WOW! This is a real winner, Beth Ann. I love it with the belt in #1. I don't have any styling suggestions to add but wanted to add that you are gorgeous!

Wow! Late to the party but had to say that you look phenomenal! Gorgeous!
Definitely a WOW!!!!
OMG!
To stunned by fabness for words!
Definitely a WOW. I love how dramatic this is. The red Obi belt literally ties it all together. You look totally badass!
I'm voting WOW too - you look stunning in this dress.
You look gorgeous in this dress. Just wear the jacket when you need to debombshell.
Love it on you and really like the ideas the other forum members have shared to give you different options.

Give it a week of rest and try it on again. If it still makes you worry about how you look or don't feel right in it give it a pass. You'll probably never feel comfortable.
Chiming in with nothing new but how great you look!

It is really great how it is a well-fitting dress, but the conservative neckline and the pockets, to me, help make it much more wearable than many cocktail dresses. So, you still look totally fab, but with just the right dash of nonchalance, and not like you're trying, and it makes you more approachable even in your fab-ness, if that makes sense. So I think that is why it is coming across as such a great dress, assuming you feel good in it yourself, of course. It is you wearing the dress and not the dress wearing you.

Now, it IS a more noticeable dress in terms of the geometric, and so if you need to budget for a chameleon LBD that is not memorable in any way, this is not actually it. But, if you expect to have events or occasions with various people--wedding, church, dates, parties and so on--then you can easily wear it several times per year. Changing up footwear, jackets and handbags will give it enough different vibes for day, evening and so on.

I am slowly getting it through my head that there is no point in having a lot of meh dresses and outfits but instead try to have several go-to that look great. This dress certainly fits that bill, from your photos.
I'm at a loss! I can't think of anything to add because everyone before me is so right.

YOU + this Dress = Awesomely fab to the power of awesomeness. In fact, so AWESOME that I think I would have to hire Jack Black to do a little AWESOME soliloquy about said AWESOMENESS to do it justice!!!

And as for the ideas on how you can wear it, yes yes yes! I can see it with a cardi and with a shirt layered and the jacket is fabulous and the belt is fabulous too. I'm actually feeling a little dizzy with the fabulousness! I'm not sure that so much fabulousness and awesomeness can be contained in a small space without creating a rift in the space/time continuum! Wear with care!
WOW! You are gorgeous in that dress! I'm so glad you're keeping it. Love both versions on you
I love a bold print and I love this on you!
Just joining the love fest for this dress on you!!!!!!!!! How great that your wedding dress search is OVER?!

I can't believe there was even a question. definitely wow and in a good way!

You nailed it! KEEP!!!!
