K/R: WIB at the grocery store...

My mom and I went to the store for groceries - but of course, our store has everything from tires to clothing, so she wanted to browse the sale section. Lo and behold, I found this TIERED DRESS in BRIGHT COLORS. It's some meh brand and was all of $30. It's actually quite nicely sewn and lined.

The wrinkles in the first pic are due to me failing to pull down the lining - it doesn't really look like that! Didn't notice them in the picture till I changed back to PJs.

I'm thinking I may need to hem a little and also take in a bit of the sides on the bottom half (surprise), but otherwise, what do you think? I've already consigned my other tiered dress (pic 3) due to the blah colors.

All feedback welcome. Returns are easy enough since I'm at the store every other day!

Oh man, your grocery store has some lovely clothes! I really love the dress! Gorgeous colours....lovely fit.

Shortening it a little will give it the perfect length too

Kelly, I am really feeling the bright colors now with the hair being not as high contrast... Not sure why, but this was a good comparison.

Interesting about the colors, Una. Maybe I should start banning black now. While I don't have a ton of grey, the hair dresser said that my hair is lightening up all over. It looks almost brown at the roots instead of black (like it used to be.) Did you notice that when your grey came in?

No, but I've realized the weird red tint is from when I was in Hawaii a couple of months ago in the sun. My hair is like time lapse photography right now! The ends are old black color, the middle is Hawaii and the top is grow out...

It's unusual to see you in so much color and I agree it's really working now. This is a much more interesting dress than the one it replaces.

Wow! Cute dresses at the grocery store?! Love the colors and the stripe design is also more modern as well.

I like both lengths, but as a fellow IT, I would definitely taper in at the hem.

How do you feel about the sleeve length? For myself, I prefer it to end closer to my bust line than my waist. The sleeve line at the waist just makes the waist look even wider whereas having arm skin exposed gives a bit of a waist whittling effect.

Excellent! Those dresses look great on you. I especially like the blue/green one. I like how you are adding color to your wardrobe. It's working well.

I know that Meijers and Costco where my mom does some of her grocery shopping in Michigan carry both food and most everything else including Clothes. Our grocery store , Wegmans, is huge, but no clothes, yet.........

Definitely a keep...Wear it with a designer blazer and you have an outfit...Would fit your work capsule and your fun one as well...

I think this is a fabulous dress - lovely colours, great fit and guilt-free price. I'd say this is a keeper.

Agree with the resounding chorus of keep. It fits very well, is a lovely color for you, and is not a huge departure from a known success.

Keep. That color and shape are uber flattering. Does it work at all with the teal jacket? Interesting about your hair inflencing your color ways. As mine has turned to mouse carcasse color, I find black to be not nearly as appealing to me. My hair is not quite as shot through with gray as yours but my underlying color was not as rich a black as yours, either.

Yes, keep. Maybe take it in a smidge at the hem but I don't even think you need to bother. The colors and pattern remind me of the ocean, and that's always good!
