K/R: what would you shoe? (picture heavy)

I'm on the hunt for great nude or near nude ankle boots. I had four shipped to me that work to varying degrees, but I'm looking for feedback on keep, return, on keep on searching.

Shoes in order of heel height are: Petty (#1), Maddie (#2), Salina (#3) and a 7 for All Mankind (#4). The Salina (#3) and the 7 (#4) are a bit high. If there is overwhelming love for either, I'll try wearing them around the house for a bit before committing 100%.

I tried each on with variations on a casual bottoms that I'd like to wear them with. The tee is just a throw on, but I think they should work with it too.

Which of these do you like best, if any?

Keeping in mind that I am a casual, comfort shoe-type of girl, I really love #2. They are *just* high enough to be dressy and sexy, whereas #1 has more of a casual desert boot effect to my eye. I love them with your blue skirt (where is it from/what fabric?). But IMHO, only #4 really work with the cropped pants.

I like 1 and 2 the best. I'm not sure I like any with the blue pants. I think the pants need to be longer, but I'm no expert on that.

I like #2 if the heel is wearable for you. I'm not a fan of the chunkiness of the heel on #1. #2 has a very elegant heel and just adds that certain something.

I love the ankle fit on #2, but if they are too high then #1 is my next pick.

I liked #3 best in the pictures of just the shoes, but #4 is just PERFECT on you. They are not suede, which gives them greater versatility and longevity, and they are a perfect nude for you. LOVE them. Unfortunately, if they are too high, though, that's a deal-breaker.

#1 is great for casual wear, #4 is high but so sleek. #2 seems like a good middle ground; I like the fit around the ankle for you.

Hmmm, I'm surprised! When I ordered them, I had #2 tagged as my favorite with #3 and #4 tied for second and #1 last. It is really interesting to me that so far #2 is by far the favorite.

@Jules, that skirt is a fabulous denim Halogen pencil skirt from last spring. It's a really finished looking denim, though, so it reads more formal than it is. I love it too, so I'm glad to have company!

@Jem, I think you are right. The only one that I really thought might be okay with the blue pants was #4, but I'm no expert at this, so was wondering what others would say. I think these cropped pants will have to stay with pointy flats for the winter.

@Echo, I know, that nude color is great isn't it? These have a platform, so they are more comfortable than they seem like they would be, but they are still pretty high. I'll be interested in what others say on these.

I like both #3 and #4 myself, but I love a high heel, even if they do hurt my feet. #3 seems more casual, but suede has it's limits as well.

I like #2 and #4 the best but would not sacrifice comfort to get #4 over #2. I rarely wear the shoes I have that are at the top of the height range (or over) so would get #2. The fit at the ankle is very good and the height and color work too.

1 and 2! I'm also looking for nude ankle boots, so it's good to see these. I can't decide if I want to be able to tuck jeans *into* them or not...

I like the ones on pic #12. I actually like when booties at that ankle length gape a little, it looks a bit gamine. I know I am alone in the park on that one.

@Sarah, definitely non-tuckable for #1 or #2. I can't decide if I'm a tucking girl for ankle boots either. Just FYI, all of 1 through 3 are Sam Edelman boots in taupe.

@Zapotee. Not alone in the park! I'm on the park bench right next to you. I like it too. A lot. Actually, that was one of the things that I found really really appealing about #3. I think it highlights a slim ankle like mine and I think it looks very sexy.

I like pairs #2 and #4 the best. Perhaps #2 would be more comfortable.

I like #2 and #4. I think #4 looks better with bare legs than #2 (better color) and both work well under pants, but factoring in heel height, I'd probably choose #2.

coming back to this...my fave is really #4. the color and heel height soldme. #2 since it closely fits over your ankle, to me, highlights its shapelyness.

Wow, I am not going to be any help here because I like them all! I think on balance I prefer 2 and 4, however. They all look pretty darned great on you!

@Diana, bj1111 and Mochi: I know! The practical side of me (which will probably win out) says #2 because it is such a great, wearable heel height. The not practical side of me loves #4 though. The color is just so gorgeous and feels so perfect and modern with my blond hair. But heel height. Grrr.

At least I know that I can pack up #1 and #3 and send them back!

#4 is just the right color for your skin, and it makes a big difference to my eye. If you can wait, try to find a comfortable (lower-heel) version in #4's color. If it's a boot you need now, then #2 is a flop-proof, very cute, alternative.

I like them all! I like #1 on you better than in the photo alone. #2 is a great compromise of heel height and color. #4 is just a gorgeous shoe if you can take the height. What brand is #2?

@Joy, they are Sam Edelman and the style is "Maddie." They also come in chocolate brown and black. Very walkable heel and the sole has a rubber sole that is great for traction.

I like #1 and #4. It depends on what you already have or if you are looking for a "do all". Angie's recent post on the 5 boot complement was really helpful in this regard.
I can totally see you in #1 with a sliver of ankle showing between the boot and a narrow leg pant or jean that works with the taupe. Very modern and wearable i.e. comfortable. I just road tested this look and the first friend I ran into commented on my boots which are similar.

I agree that they are not optimal for the blue pants but so many fall/winter looks
could be built around both of these. If your lifestyle needs both go for it if you can.

Such great picks, K. I have the first pair and couldn't be happier but I have a very casual life and will be wearing mine with jeans and pants. That being said if I could wear a heel, I love 2 and think that would be more versatile, looking great with dresses and skirts as well. But comfort rules my feet so that would be the most important consideration for me.

Boot #4 is standout! I can't look at the others after seeing these on you. Color is perfect. Fit is so sleek and elegant. How's the heel hight?

The heel height in #4 disqualify them for me - they just don't look wearable, but I have no heel tolerance. I would pick #2 or even #1.

Okay, update, I'm wearing # 4 tonight. I've had them on for over an hour and they are surprisingly wearable. I wouldn't call them comfort boots, but...they aren't uncomfortable. Not all day running around boots, but comfortable enough for some running around and some sitting. I love the look so much that I'm seriously considering keeping them. I think they look the best (followed closely by # 2) with the skirt. I could wear them with jeans. Hmmmmm.

My favorite is #4 due to how the heel height elongates your legs. Second choice is #2 since the heel height is perfect along with the fit around the ankle. Such tough choices which we are so fortunate to have. Good luck! I am going to look up those boots.
