K/R: Theysken's Theory blouse, DVF cocoon-like coat

OK, I finally sprang for the Theysken's Theory neoprene-like white blouse that Angie mentioned. The fabric is the opposite of drapey (but not quite "stiff"...it curves but doesn't drape), and I really, really like it. But does it look dumb on me? Too big? (the next size down was not available for me to compare) Makes me look ridiculous? I am not concerned with flattery per se, but I'm on the fence on whether I can pull this off.

I've modeled it front, back and sides with two different bottoms. The armholes are cut extremely low on it, so it almost has a dolman sleeve-like effect, contributing to the bubble-like shape.

The shoes choice with the skirt is questionable....let me know if you have a different idea for a bottom. Would this work with my baggy, light wash, distressed boyfriend jeans? Or would that be too weird/too much going on?

The second item is the DVF black and white graphic coat. It's double breasted and kind of has the cocoon shape. It has a raglan/dolman type sleeve, so no shoulder seam, and I think the sleeve length is OK, but is this too oversized? Does the size plus the print overwhelm me? I think it's fun, but again also worry with this that is just looks ridiculous...This is a size medium, and DVF usually runs small! So odd, which may explain why it was on sale!

The coat is perfect. It looks great at any angle and is one of those pieces that you throw on over a simple outfit and suddenly you have something really chic without having to think a lot. It's truly a statement piece that makes an outfit.

As for the blouse, I'm a little torn. It looks big on you, although I know that's the intent. I am not a fan of this with the loafers, I would wear a more feminine sexy heel to counteract the frump-chic aspect of the midi and the oversized sweatshirt shape of the top. I don't mean frump-chic as a negative; it's very trendy right now but I feel it needs to be balanced. Maybe some pretty necklace would help as well.

To summarize, the coat is a no-brainer that needs no additional styling to get it right. It works on its own. The top needs more effort, but I do think you can pull it off and it is a fantastic piece!

I am completely, 100% with Denise on this. I adore the coat on you, and I think in your climate, it's a complete no -brainer. You would get a lot of use from this.

The top is beautiful, and looks good in some of the photos, but I agree that it might need to be styled differently and I do wonder about the sizing. Maybe experiment a bit with other items in the closet and take some more pics?

You need a size down on the top! That's all, Jenava :). Perfect with the skirt when you add pointy toe pumps or other ladylike shoes. Unstructured structure. I like that type of top with a luxurious bottom, so try it with your trousers when you've tracked down a smaller size. I like it less with skinnies, but do like the pop of studded shoe!

I adore the proportions of the oversized top with skinnies ad studded liafers. But this is my preferred silhouette for me as well! The studds here seem to balance the preciousness of the top.

I'm eager to see the top in a size down, because I like it in theory (haha, no pun intended!), but it is not quite right.

I think the coat is awesome! Keep! I think it will work with a wide variety of outfits too. For example, it looks great with the all-black, simple pants outfit you have on, and I think it will be stunning over something dressy or sparkly for evening.

The top looks a little big to me. I think it's the combo of the boxy shape and the short length that is making a proportion that I don't like. And the shoulders look possibly too big. I agree that you should try a size down though, since it's a very cool piece.

I love the top on you Jenava. It's so sculptural and the white is perfect for your pristine complexion. Angie had some great advice for size and pairings. The coat is stunning on you. Please, please keep it. It will make me so happy to think of you wearing it and looking so chic!

If the top is a size large and you're going to to size down I might buy it off you.

I read your post first, and then looked at the photos. I like the coat more than I thought I would after reading your narrative. I like it a lot! It fits you well, I don't find it overwhelming, and it's very fun in a chic way.
The blouse looks too big to me, especially in the back. These are my reactions even before reading what Angie had to say. I like the idea of it with the skirt, though, very much.

Also love the coat and almost love the top. I like the top better with the jeans here and would like to see it smaller if possible, but do really like the look of the material - even on my computer screen- and it is flattering to your beautiful face.

Jenava, I would like to see the top sized down also before I could really comment. I like the idea if this top but I do have reservations. The coat fits perfectly however it is quite the statement piece and I find that I can become quickly bored with items like this....I don't know if you are that way also but if you are I would just factor that into your consideration. On the up side, I do think they are both stunning pieces and you have such innate style that you will wear this beautifully.

OK, thank you very much, ladies! I am still on the fence about this blouse. I don't think a smaller size will become available to try, unfortunately, and it's expensive enough that I think I will need to return it.

I had a similar coat and tired of it very quickly. If the price is right and you love it then keep! I love the shape. I can also see you in a Marantish tweed that would be so fab with the blouse.
