K/R or my Nordie's order has arrived today!

I have risked to order just 2 items from Nordstrom: a dress and a jacket. I was hoping so much that it comes in time to wear this dress for my birthday but - alas - it was 3 days too late!
Anyway here it is and now I am faced with a dilemma: keep or return. I hope you can help me out.
#1-3 Donna Morgan dress in Rio Red.
Looks like the fit is pretty good - even waist is almost in place and wide belt covers it up. I usually don't like the belts which come with tops or dresses but this one is soft and nice looking. There are so many trends in this dress: dolman sleeves, midi length, sunray pleated skirt...Longer sleeves are nice bonus too.
I think I like it - what do you think? Does this red color suit me?

#4-5 Gibson knit riding jacket
I like it but I am not sure about the fit. Is the length fine on me or is it too short for this style? Do you think the back is too tight in the hips because the slit on the back is coming apart a bit? If I am to keep it I will ask my mom to take it in a bit in the upper back - that is my usual problem with all tops because my shoulders are wide and my back is very narrow. What is your verdict on this one?

That dress is stunning on you!!!!! The jacket's pretty fabulous too, but I'll leave the question about the fit at the back to the experts, since I'm no fit expert. I do think it looks pretty good though, and would be a keeper in my non-expert opinion.

In the meantime - that dress... well worth the wait. Angie sure knows how to pick a good dress, doesn't she? It looks way better on you than it does on Nordstrom's website. You look simply amazing in it.

Sveta, first of all, how did we miss your birthday?!?! Or how did I miss it? Here is hoping you had a wonderful day, even without your new dress. You're such a style inspiration!

I think the dress is sensational! It's tough to gauge colour when we are all in artificial light, so you are probably a better judge than we are of this, but in the photos it looks amazing.

How would you wear it, do you think? Does it need to be wearable in different ways, or as a "night out" dress only?

The jacket I'm more iffy on. As you know, I really like this piece. And it looks good on you. But if you were wanting it to wear with your skinnies you might want it longer in the back; I think they are technically supposed to come over the bum, right? Still, it's a lovely curved shape and I can definitely see this working well with your other wardrobe items. So it's a tough call.

Suz, thanks! I did have a great day - two actually as we had a dinner with my parents on Friday and our friends visited us on Saturday.
This is exactly my concern on the jacket too - I think I would need Angie's expert opinion.

The dress - you THINK you like it??? You're kidding, right? You look AMAZING in this dress. There's nothing that isn't right about it - the colour, the fit, the details, the length...truly beautiful on you.

The riding jacket is lovely as well, but I do see what you mean. Unfortunately I don't know if this is a real problem or not so will leave it to others.

That dress is a definite keeper. The color is lovely and the drape is nice. I think it looks fab on you. I love the jacket from the front. The cut is really pretty. I see what you mean about the back pleat but am not sure it is a deal breaker.

The jacket looks great on you, and if you hadn't pointed out the vent separating in the back I might not have noticed. I think the length is fine.
If it were me, I'd keep it, because it looks really good and I think that little vent separation is a inconsequential. I'm no expert, though.

But, oh! That dress is phenomenal on you!

Sveta, a big Happy Birthday to you and you MUST keep the dress, for it is simply stunningly elegant on you. Jaw-dropping elegant. I love it!

About the jacket...I like it very much but will defer to you and others more knowledgeable than I about fit. I can see how you could get a lot of wear out of it, both for casual wear and in a dressier setting. It is really lovely.

I think the dress is great! I like the jacket too and to me the fit looks fine. I like the length and the vent in the back isn't a problem for me. I'm not an expert though and think others might have a more informed opinion.

I think the dress is stunning on you. The jacket is adorable from the front, but I think a little short of optimal length in the back. Vents are tricky, too; they have to be made with a little extra fabric added for "wearing ease." If it is cut exactly straight, it will never close nicely when worn on the body. If it were me, I'd return and hold out for a jacket that has a vent that stays closed when you're standing still.

This dress is AMAZING on you! Definitely a keeper. I love the jacket from the front - I have to leave the fit question up to the experts, but personally, I think it's worth keeping.

I also adore that jacket on you. The back slit doens't bother me in the least - it's barely slit. And possibly your mom's alterations will adjust that too. I am really liking the longer back 'tail' on you, the front length is fab for you also, and the color is very versatile. . .

WOW! Sveta, what a fab Nordie's haul! I LOVE the dress. It's so perfect on you--the shape, the length, color! It's stunning. The jacket is amazing on you too. I think the fit is great. I don't think it's too small in the hips at all--in fact, it doesn't look like it needs any alteration, IMHO. I vote KEEP!

I could see this going to work, to dinner, etc. You must keep. I also like it because it adds to your wardrobe as I haven't see you in anything like this before.

Sveta, I understand where you're coming from with the jacket, but I really do think it's fantastic on you. I just took another look and confirmed it -- at least to my eye!

I vacillated between the small and the medium in it -- the medium fit me more like a boyfriend jacket, which seemed to go against the lovely curved hem, which sort of begs a slightly more fitted look. The sleeves were roomier, which I found more comfortable, but it didn't look as good open as the smaller size, and I knew this was a jacket I was going to wear open more than closed. The SA thought I should go with the smaller size and pointed out that it was a little big in the body in the medium. I was a little nervous about it, but after wearing it for an hour or so, the sleeves loosened up on me, so I'm glad I went with the smaller size.

But since I did go with the smaller version, I think mine might hit me near the same spot it hits you in the back. I think it's a flattering spot on both you and me!

Do you envision wearing this mostly open or closed? Maybe we should see pics of it closed if you think you'll west it that way.
