K/R: new purchases - YouLookFab Forum

I'd ordered this Joie sweater but the S was way too big, so I had to practice PPP and sized down. What do you think? It is not grey but dark blue, which I like, and it's supersoft and comfy.

The other purchase was these JAG jeans in grey, persuaded by YLFers and the fact that they are a petite bootcut. They are really comfy and although they were snug they are already stretching. I sized down one size to a 4P based on the recommendations at Nordstrom. I feel I need some MOTG jeans that are not skinny or BFs to wear in cold weather, as not all my tops work with skinnies and boots, and BFs are not as easy to style in snow.

The Karen Kane dress was a bust - it's nice quality and pretty, but a bit too sporty for me and I'd have to spend the day sucking in my gut.

The sweater looks blue and a great blue at that. The jeans look good too, if they are long enough - hard to tell here.

Love the blue sweater! When you posted the link, I wondered about the length, but I think it totally works on you. Looks as cozy as it is fab!

As for the jeans -- love the color, and I love my Jag jeans, so I imagine they're just as comfy. I"m not accustomed to seeing you in straight legs. I'm a big believer in the silhouette, but how do you feel about it? Also, what's pocket placement like in the back? That's one of the things that sold me on my pair of bootcuts.

LOVE the sweater, but I think you can do better in jeans. I think you'd look fantastic in a bootcut with a slimmer knee break.

Rae, any suggestions? They have to be comfortable and to break in the right place they may have to be petite...

Not necessarily. But I have blue boot cuts. I thought this would add variety. In blue, I'm interested in flares or widelegs if someone my height can pull them off!

Wow, I'm seriously striking out... bootcuts must not be mainstream yet. All shades of blue and black, but that's about all I can find.

Paige used to make a Hidden Hills petite in gray, but I can't find it anymore.

American Eagle has a bunch of different washes, but it's just dark or light blue or white or black.

It doesn't have to be boot cut but I'm not good with straight leg! I wasn't on a hunt but saw these and thought they might fill a hole. But did I even know the hole was there? Sheesh. They are nice no brainer pants but I want them to look fab too.

See, I'm slipping! I wear the NYDJ trousers all the time and just hope I don't look too frumpalicious.

Love the asymmetric sweater and the jeans look like they fit great. My only hesitation is the waistband. I like to be able to semi tuck. If they are comfy and don't fall down, I think they are keepers!

I think both fit well and look great on you. Pants with a waistband like that seem to work well with lighter-weight knits since they are nice and smooth.

Well I'm on a completely different page than the rest of group here Una so take my comments with a grain of salt...

I love the color of the tunic and the asymmetrical shape but I'm wondering if its a bit too long? I feel like it makes your legs look very short - although part of that is the way you are standing with your feet crossed so that really only one leg shows at all.

I actually do like the grey jeans. I like the soft color and the fit looks great on you IMHO. I quite like the straight leg silhouette.

But hey - you need to feel love for these items so it's all what tickles your fancy

I am with Shannon on this one. Love the colour of the tunic and the shape and drape but it seems a bit long to me. But take this with a grain of salt because I am wary of overlong tunics on my own body -- it never looks right on me.

I like the jeans, too!

I agree that perhaps the tunic is a bit long, but I love the color. I think the jeans look cute, although I can sort of see Rae's point about the knee break.

I'm feeling like the tunic is too long. Sorry! I like the basic idea of it but it is just too much unless you are going to wear it with skinnies and heels (which I know is not happening for you).

I think the jeans are a nice basic fall back for snowy weather and MOTG. I like that they are gray not black or blue.

Loving the blue sweater! I think that is a keeper for sure, especially in your climate. I don;t feel like it is too long for you as you have it styled. Yes, skinny or fitted trousers are a must with it, but they are with most tunic tops.

I am unsure on the jeans. I am terrible at length on trousers, especially bootcuts, but I wonder if these are a touch too short?

My general feeling is that these are 8's. Perfectly fine but not 'wow'. Nothing wrong with having 8's unless you are looking for 10's.

Would you shush it, your tush is just fine!

I see the coziness factor in the sweater but it is a bit long. I suggest wearing a contrasting tank dress underneath it with your leggings. Then it will look intentional and graphic.
