K/R: Frye Julias (ETA photos with dresses)

ETA: So here are a few items in my closet that I feel need tall boots to work more often for me. Ted Baker dress, Theory dress, F21 skirt (unstyled but to show length). I have a few more work and casual skirts at this length, and a couple more dresses also. Does this change anything for anyone?

These are SO ridiculously beautiful, but I think they may be too tall for me! I am the shortest of the Julia crowd. *sniffle* What do you think? I can sit comfortably in them, but I definitely could not sit all day in them (not that I sit all day!). They fit my foot, the heel height is comfortable, and are perfect for my skinny legs. I'd also be able to wear my short skirts, since they give so much coverage, if the look is okay.

Please be honest - are they dwarfing/overwhelming me or am I UWP enough to rule them? And please excuse my awful climbing tee!

I would wear them at this heiggt. They look fab on you. But How do they feel /look fron the back.. Do they dig in when you walk? Qould the back become more annoying as time passes?

They don't dig in at all when I walk. Since I've tightened the laces they are tight on my calf when I sit, but there's a gusset (?) that has some give and I think will loosen. Maybe the other Julia owners can chime in about that.

Try wearing them around for a while in the house - mine definitely got shorter as I wore them in. As the ankle starts to fold and crease with wear, the shaft gets shorter. I personally don't find them to dwarf you because the color blends well with your legs and the shaft is super fitted. I think the height is borderline as-is, but if I remember correctly that is how mine fit at first, too. Oh, Angie's suggestion to tuck the laces in seems to help the overall look of mine a lot as well.

ETA: Here is one of their most recent outings (L) versus the initial K/R (R). It's not a *huge* difference, but the extra little bit was enough with how fitted they are IMO.

Yes, I will definitely tuck the laces and will need to even them out as well, they are kind of wonky right now and that's pretty labor-intensive. That sounds like good news for me, Rae - if they soften and are .5 inches shorter after that, I'll be thrilled!

Okay, they *do* look a bit tall for you - but they also fit very close to your calf so you don't have the huge awkward gap that really overly tall boots have. And they are a lovely color and shape. I would recommend taking Rae's advice and wear them around the house to see how the comfort and shaft height do over time.

I would argue that they may be even closer to the knee on me, and Angie gave them a thumbs up. (Don't you love how they actually fit close to your calf? Amazing for us skinny leggers!)

Yay, they look fantastic from the side and back! I wanted to see because sometimes when boots are that high they gape a bit where the calf starts to narrow into the knee, but these look like they fit nice and snugly. So definitely keep as long as they are comfy!

It's the shaft height you worry about, not the heel height?

Are they right there - at the edge of interferring with bending your knee?

They look pretty cool, I think you can UWP them, for sure. They aren't probably at the perfect shaft height for you, buuut that's part of their quirkly charm, I think.

I like tucked in laces too.

Yes, Mo, I am really astounded at the fit, because they have the zip and not just the laces. I am wearing them bare-legged here, but I might even need to loosen to wear with tights - what a concept!

Will wear around the house and see if the shaft height changes.

Good heavens, if you don't keep them I'm going to steal them off your feet. You rule the laces off these. And especially with Rae's comment, they seem perfect for you!

I don't think they overwhelm you, but they ware borderline. LOVE the look though. I say follow Rae's suggestion.Very cool boots.

I don't think they overwhelm you, as long has you don't feel uncomfortable sitting or walking. I think the color is great!

They look made for you (well maybe you that has a 1/4 inch higher calf but still...) and I think they will feel better when the leather softens up a bit. Keep and break in gently and love.

I've definitely been in a similar boat as you. I can see your point. I don't know if this makes sense, but proportion-wise, could these not be the shorter woman's over-the-knee boot? (I mean, a little more boot than usual.) If so, then it would merely be a question of physical comfort. I think they're quite nice, and if it's true they will shorten, they should eventually be hitting that sweet spot below the knee. So why not keep?

I like the way they look. Have you checked online to see if other people with those boots have noticed the boots slouching (for lack of a better word)? That could help.

I've looked at the pics several times, and I remain on the fence, though it looks like I'm the only one :). Just not 100% about the fit...what will you wear them with?

I don't think they overwhelm you Una and the colour is magnificent on you. When comparing with Mo's initial post with her boots, I think they're extremely similar. Wear them a bit around and if they're comfortable, I'd go for it. I suspect Rae is right in that as the leather loosens up, they'll "scrunch" a bit. They really are gorgeous boots!

Awesome boots, but they do look like they are encroaching on your knee---would a cobbler be able to cut a little bit off the top?

Wow, I think they look great with your leg shape and skin tone. Sounds like good news that the other ladies had a little shortening after extended wear. You are DEFINITELY UWP enough to rule them!

Bumping for Angie in case she nixes them. I have worn them around the house and they have indeed softened up and are now about .5 inch lower on my leg. Still comfortable on the foot, surprisingly for the heel height.

Another question after considering what Jonesy says... These will allow me to wear my shorter dresses and skirts, but can they also be worn with skirts that cover the top of the boot (i.e. no skin showing)? I would also wear these over skinnies, as I think Rae has.

I just don't think they are a 10, Una. Too tall. They are an 8. Rae seems to fill them out more and Mo is just that bit taller than you. That said, most petite bloggers wear their boots like this, so the fit-aesthetic is subjective. They will fit better over jeans - but that was not their intended purpose was it?
