Thanks so much for the dress love. I think I’ve been gravitating towards my plain FFBO and the hectic pattern is throwing me off. When life gets crazy I’m most comfortable in the outfits I don’t have to think about and that don’t draw any extra attention.
@ladypainter: Good point. Thank you. You’re absolutely right. I’ve felt like the black dress is so plain at times that I decided I’d never buy another plain black dress. Other times I’m almost relieved to grab it since it’s so easy! So fickle. I’ll definitely swap out footwear and try some toppers too.
@slim cat: Thank you. I was on necklaces for awhile but kind of fell out of practice with them. I love them as a summer accessory since they add interest without layers. Now I just throw on a topper.
@rainb: Thank you!
@Gail: Thank you! I think you’re right about the snakeskin booties. I will have to give it a try.
@nemosmom: Thanks. I actually do like it. The color and the pattern are perfect for me. Not twee or floral--more modern. I think it’s just a little busier than I’m used to and I just need my eye to adjust.
@notsaf: Thank you. The brown does bookend my hair almost perfectly. My hair dresser said I’m “only” about 25% grey so I’ve got a good 5 or more years with these boots!
@Keturah and Bijou: Thank you! I think you’re right. It is more of a statement dress. It’s probably the most interesting dress in my closet and I can see it as a boredom buster when I get sick of jeans and boots this winter. Thank you for the chore jacket love and sharing your opinion on the booties!
@Aquamarine: Ha ha! Thank you. I think it’s just the horizontal stripes. It’s a lot of pattern for him. He finds them widening.
@Janet: Thank you! I agree this is just enough on the plain side of arty for me. I love boho and arty on other people--I’m not used to it on me. Part of it is my environmental norm...we are basic dressers. I loved the brown booties on you--they are perfect with the Bernardo moto. You’re right about the pattern and fit--it is a lot of stripes and quite fitted so I’m going to try it with a vest to help tone it down until I get used to it. Haha.
@Robin: Thank you! Photos don’t always tell the truth, do they!
@Torontogirl: Thank you. It is outside my norm. That’s for sure but sometimes it’s good to try different things.
@lisap: Thank you! I think the stripes help distract the eye from the body con nature of the dress but it is still quite fitted on top. It is very comfortable though. The colors are so you--I ‘m sorry it didn’t work out. Thanks for the vote on the brown. I may try the Elvinas just to see whether I prefer the higher shaft otherwise I may just keep these. I think they will play well with my bootcuts.
@Angie: Thank you! You always pick out the best stuff! I am going to keep at the dress and wear it with joy! I really wanted white snakeskin booties but the color of the brown was like a siren song to me. I’m going to try the Elvinas in the white snakeskin before I commit--just to make sure I don’t regret not getting the higher shaft. Thank you for the outfit love too.
@Elizabeth: Thank you! Am going to try the topper and I love your opinion on the booties! Haha.
@Sara: thank you!
@rachy: thank you. It’s just the hectic pattern and fit of the stripey dress. A little out of my wheelhouse.
@ChristelJ: Thank you! Appreciate the affirmation on the stripey dress too.
@Jaileen: Thank you. I always preferred lower shaft booties with dresses as well but my black fryes have changed my mind. All of my boots are brown so white snakeskin would change things up!
@Christina; Thank you. I think I saw the dress on you first and it stuck in my head. The colors were so pretty on you. I will try it with a lower shaft shoe too.
@tex: Thank you. Haha--he is allergic to pattern, I think. Probably not used to seeing my in that many stripes to be honest. Thanks for the thumbs up on the booties!
@Barbara. Thanks. Great idea to break up the dress.
@Shevia: haha. That’s so me. I’m not very accommodating that way. He is going to develop an affinity for stripes PDQ.
@AJ: Thank you! I think toughening it up might help too. I was tempted to throw on the moto but it wasn't cold enough. It is a great idea to add something to off set the arty vibe. Will definitely try with the brown booties!
