K/R boiled-wool drapy vest?

Hi Fabbers!
This vest has just arrived and I am seeking your wise counsel

Pros: Lovely material and neutral colour goes with my navy/teal/wine wardrobe.
Cosy and warm, and will also fit under a jacket/coat when necessary.
The centre break extends my leg-line.

Cons: Pricey for me!
More obviously Avante Garde for me- will I feel self-conscious wearing this?

Well, I love it even though drapey is not my thing. I especially like the collar splayed open as it is in #1. This could be your completer peice for so many outfits! It's a keeper in my book.

Wow, just picked myself up off the floor. Lyn this is gorgeous. Is the belt attached? Can you wear it open with the belt loosely tied to the back? I think this could work with a number of things layered underneath. A long sleeve silky drapey blouse. Fitted top like you have on. Worn over a midi tube dress... endless possibilities. I would hope you don't feel self conscious wearing it...it's not over the top and it's very attractive.

I have to ask where it's from .... please... do you have link?

I love this on you and think you should keep it! I tend also to feel self-conscious about wearing more dramatic pieces but this is not too much at all. Looks easy to wear and warm on a chilly day -- great combination.

IMO it isn't so much avant garde as casual luxe which you could work so

I was tempted by that when I first saw it. You would only need a medium though, and the smaller sizes are gone.

Lyn - I really love this on you!! I recently bought a very similiar sweater. The Helmut Lang sonar cardigan. Featherfactor has some styling on hers and I thought it might be helpful since the line is similiar. http://www.featherfactor.com/2.....eview.html I think this is so elegant. I am planning on wearing mine over tunic and leggings, leather leggings, over slim ponte pants, skinnies. You could also play by swapping out the belt (of course, I would pick black!!) I'd be interested to see this with a sheath dress and tights with boots or booties too. But you have to be feeling it. If the cost is dear you have to love it. But I think you look wonderful!!

Is this even a question? My heavens, woman. I had to run out back for the fuchsia crash helmet and I don't know why you insist on doing this to me, because it fits very awkwardly over the toque that I need for our -35 temperatures today!!

A keeper with no reservations. I don't see this as terribly avant garde but no matter the adjective, you look good in this and it is eminently wearable.

Thanks Caro- I was struggling with naming the style and you are spot-on there. When I first put it on I wasn't sure, but it is growing on me as I look at the pics and read the comments.

Thanks for chiming-in Angie. I just put it on over the BF jeans I am wearing today The cropped pant I had in mind to wear with is winter wool and sits on my ankle bone- too tight/cool to wear shorter in my mind.

I think that big wrapped sweaters like that have become mainstream enough that it won't read as too avant garde. But I love this one so much more than many in that category. The fold over collar is amazing and the overall fit is so flattering on you. Some wrap sweaters add bulk in all the wrong places, but this is the exact opposite. Fabulous.

And it's perfect just as you've styled it.

Looks great! It's a wonderful fit on you, too, being drapey but with some sharp structured lines, too.
If you feel awkward, spend some more time making possible outfits with different tops/ bottoms & colors and see if you begin to "own" the look.
I think it's interesting but approachable at the same time.
