K/R - Which black jeans?

Which high-waisted black pair do you think look best on me? Up for consideration are three pairs: Rag & Bone, Paige, and AYR. I'd never heard of AYR but the brand was recommended to me by blogger Jennine at EatSleepDenim.com.

1-4. Rag & Bone.
5-8. Paige.
9-12. AYR.

I've tried to keep the pictures similar for scientific purposes, but now I wonder, if this is hypnotic and not in a good way.

It is a little tricky to differentiate, but I think the Rag and Bones look best. I've read this jean does stretch out so you might be wise to size down.

I really don't know, Denise, all three look great. So that's no help, sigh-( But I just wanted to say that you look really good in black high-rise skinny jeans:-)
The rise on the Rag & Bone pair seems slightly lower than on the two other pairs? But both rises look good on you. Will you be wearing them mainly with tucked-in tops? Which pair feels best on? It's a little hard to see with the booties, but are they all the same length on you? If not, which length do you prefer? (just a few questions that may help you decide which ones would be most versatile for you).

Hard to explain exactly why, but the Rag & Bone look the best fit to me. Not too tight, not to loose, they fit your legs perfectly.

I think the Rag and Bone have the best fit although they all look good. They are all high waisted but the other two look maybe a little too high waisted to me.
Which ones feel more comfortable to you?

i've been thinking about black jeans- so thanks for doing some of the pre work for me....i like the rag and bone best. for some reason i like the AYR's least, somehow the waist on that pair looks "off".

I agree with Joyce, I think the Rag and Bone look fabulous. The other two look really good but not as good as the Rag and Bone.

Are the rises all the same? I am actually finding it impossible to choose because I feel a bit like I am comparing apples and oranges. I think you look great in all of them, but it looks like the rise rises with each pair. And if that is the case, maybe that is why some of us are being drawn to the R&B, which is closer to what most of us wear? If you really want a "high rise," I would think you need to go with one of the other pairs. Am I wrong? Maybe I am hypnotized, Denise. haha!

I like the R&Bs and the Ayrs. The Paige doesn't get you as well. The Ayrs have a higher rise and look like a slimmer cut, so if that's what you want they may be worth a try.

Really, really tough to say. My first impulse was Rag and Bone. But I also really like the Ayr. They are higher rise -- if it does not just into your ribs and still feels comfy, maybe they are a more "high-rise-integrity" way to go -- I'm not sure. The wash looks a bit richer on those, too, but I may be mistaken. It is so hard to compare black with black, even back to back, lol.

You look fantastic in all of them, so you can't really go wrong by picking the one that seems best made or is most comfortable.

They all look pretty darn good (and you are looking fabulous, I only wish I looked so good in any jeans!). I prefer the R&Bs. The Ayrs are a bit high for my eye, but I think this really all comes down to personal preference. How do all of these feel to you?

i am going to go out there and vote for the ayr although the r&b are a very very close second. both of these come in at the very top of the waist so it gives your hip shape while visually narrowing your pretty waist. the paiges make your waist look much wider than it actually is.

since you want high rise pants, the ayr achieves this and i think is a more fashion forward silhouette--maybe even trend-emerging. the r&b fit so so well--as well as the ayr especially in the butt and the thigh-- but seems like a half hearted attempt at high waistedness.

guess depends on what your fashion priorities are. i think of you as an early adopter of emerging silhouettes so the ayr in my mind go along with this. you'll already be there by the time everyone else has wrapped their minds around high waists. plus, you'll wear the pants longer while high street catches up. that said, it might be a commitment to wear ayr very early into the trend.

Spanner... I like the R&B and then the Paige. I don't care for the back view of the AYR, although I do like the other two views.

Rag and bone looks the best to me. The waistband on the other two looks a little large, like it's sticking out a bit in front. Full disclosure though - I'm not too fond of the super high rise look and I think the r&b is slightly lower, so that may be coloring my judgement.

It's a tough call between the Rag and Bone and the Paige here. I like the fit of both of these for you. I'm going to vote Paige just because I own a pair and adore the soft material.

I'm also a bit of a spanner in that my least favourite pair is the Ayr due to the back view. HOWEVER, often this ends up being the most fashion forward so I've been way wrong before

I prefer the R&B's but they are clearly not as high rise. The rise seems to get higher as the photos progress. If that's what you are after then I think I prefer the Paige pair. Depends how you are going to wear them.

I am not generally a fan of the very-high-waist look (as seen in Urban Outfitters styling, etc) so I like the R&B better than the Ayr jeans. But - that is probably my brain not quite catching up to trends (and my personal physical dislike of things pressing on my tummy). If you want a higher rise look, I'm not sure which I prefer, but probably Ayr.

My friend has those R&B high rise skinnies and the black dye faded to blue-black pretty quickly. I don't know how she was washing them, though. And she bought hers two years ago; the dye or fabric may have changed since then.

I like the Rag and Bone on you. I have had mine for two or three years and they have not faded. I do not wash them often.

Actually they are in my profile picture. That was March of this year. Still black.

Looks like the Rag & Bones and AYRs are getting the top votes. I do love my Rag & Bone jeans. These are a size smaller than the other two pairs. The Paiges feel like they may stretch out and be too big. Also, the calf is too roomy for my taste.

Thinking about keeping both the Rags and AYRs since black jeans are a mainstay of my work look (enabling self…)

Another vote for R&B. I like that rise better on you. But I really wish I looked that good in high waisted jeans! I would only wear cropped tops and high waisted jeans then

I was going to say could you buy both - they are an essential in your wardrobe Agreeing with the others, none of them look bad on you so it's really hard. There is something about the fit of the R & B that I really like & the AYRs are my second pick
