K/R - Inordinate Side Stripe Love

I just found 2 trendy items, which I don’t usually do. But the side stripe trend seems to fit well with my love of details and “subtle and not so subtle” bling. They were both really inexpensive items, so I want to make sure I don’t have sales goggles.

#1 -4 (1 is smaller size, 2-4 the larger, 4 is possible hack). I have been wanting tuxedo stripe jeans, and a light wash, but they all seem to be skinny, which I don’t do. If Keep, a)which size, and b)is ankle length good or should I shorten, and how much? (I would probably hack and fray the hem, as I can’t keep the original hem with the tapered ankle. Not sure a regular hem would look good as it would not be distressed).

#5-7 I love the black and white racing stripes on the sleeve, and it is just the shade of hunter green I have been hoping for. Very casual, short enough to wear with my black high waist jeans (5/6), but still works with a midrise (7). But it is from the juniors dept, and has a small saying embroidered - “k, bye” - that might skew too youthful for a non-teen.

I like them! But I have a weakness for side-stripe jeans and pants, which is sad because they look awful on me — the stripe just curves on my thighs and emphasizes how big they are, rather than falling nice and straight. So I will enjoy vicariously on you!

I love tuxedo stripes on any kind of pant, and down a sleeve too. I like both of these pieces, but they do strike me as pretty junior looking. The "k-bye" thing especially and the snaps on the jeans. However, that's just me. They look to fit you well - can't really tell size difference, and I think they look best shorter.

I prefer the smaller size on you. The extra fabric on the larger one makes odd crotch creases. I am DYING over the snaps! Would wear with serious grown up top or jacket and a wide range of footwear from sneaks to heels.

The k-bye seems fun. But probably not a piece with longevity. You’ll wear a few times then move on.

Janet - I live vicariously through your gorgeous black items and rock and roll vibe. I can't wear them, but I love them on you.

lisa p - I may see if the "k, bye" is removable, just because I haven't seen this color much yet - lots of emerald but no hunter. It is interesting the jeans photos don't look that different, but they feel very different.

bj111 - thanks for pointing out the creases - I have been noticing that a lot in pants lately - wrinkles from too much fabric, very different from the wrinkles from too tight, but still very problematic. I like the pants in the smaller size very much. I like both full length and cropped. If you want the frayed hem on a full length, you could undo the hem, and leave or hack to be the right length.

Love those pants too. Cotter/sated pin trick is ingenious. I will be adopting.

I like both items. I prefer the jeans with the bottoms rolled. You don't have to hem them if you can just roll them instead. The k.bye doesn't bother me, but I would be happier without it. Maybe you can pick it out. If not, the top is a beautiful shade of green and the embroidery is fairly small.

Joy -thanks and such a great idea about releasing the hem! I can always hack later for a different look.

bj1111- thanks! What a difference the pins made. You could duplicate them with a plastic disk and small safety pins. I just cut some out of a food container with some craft paper punches, lighter weight than the real metal ones.

Sara L.- thanks and good thoughts. They don’t roll well now because of the bulky seams and snaps, but if i release the hem that might work. And if the embroidery doesn’t remove well, I may take a dark green sharpie to it. I often do that with annoying logos on jackets.

I love stripes...and I love the snaps on the jeans, but I agree with bj111, they need to be balanced with a serious grown up top, or balanced with serious grown up shoes....

less a fan of the tee...but that's more about the neck line than the saying. I think you look better in the softer, more rounded crew you are wearing in the other pictures

@karen13, did you make a hole in the fabric to slide in the button, then affix the cotter pin/ disk-safety pin contraption?

Karen13, I like the idea of the tuxedo stripe jeans here. The smaller size is better. But the length is off. Too long. And can we see the style with the side slits?

I am currently traveling, but will post a pic when I return home. If I hacke, what footwear would compliment?

Smaller size pants definitely have less bunching around the crotch. Love tuxedo stripe pants, and I think the proppsed hack will be cool

I'm torn on the top. It looks good on you, I just dont know how I feel about the words on it.
