K/R - BR sweater - Ceit twin

I've had this sweater from Banana Republic for about a month. I spent an entire day at the mall trying on loads of tops and this is the only one I thought looked good and fit. I saw it on Ceit and it looked great on her. I am not sure about sequins in the daytime but I was trying to be fashion forward. I loved the colors when I tried it on in the store and was liking the fit because it actually fit in my shoulders. It is very hard to get something to be small enough in the shoulders and ample enough in the chest. However, now in the pics I am seeing puckers above my chest. Maybe this is not the right cut for me. What do you think?

I really like this top on you. I have a charcoal sweatshirt with sequins from BR and I love it, casual yet not plain. I say keep and wear with confidence!

I think it looks great on you. I see the puckering but I wonder if in movement it's not that noticeable?

Those two wrinkles from the bust to the shoulders indicate a poor fit. If I were making it from scratch, I'd adjust the pattern to correct the fit. If this were RTW, it would stay in the store (or go back there). Sorry, high standards for fit here.

Sorry, but I don't think this is a good fit for you. It would bug me every time I wore it.. if it were me. I say return and keep looking.

Ooh! It looks great in natural light and I really like the neutral palette on you.

I wonder what would happen if you sized up. Is that a possibility?

The buckling could be simply a result of the heavier sequinned fabric pulling down -- a gravity issue. But that might be a bit different if the sweater fit looser overall. I don't really know for sure.

I am not a fit expert, and am sort of wondering if there is a bit of over focus. It is not something I would have noticed had it not been called out to me.

But I am wonderig if you will choose to wear it if you are not cmfortable with sequins in the daytime (I know I am not, so this is a trend I will enjoy from the sidelines!)

I am still on the fence on this sweater.
Deborah - I think I will try it on again and make sure it is not a movement issue.

Thistle - my thought is to wear this for a casual dinner night out. I don't know if that justifies keeping it though

Hi Jeanie! I really like the style of the sweater, and the colour is great on you. I think it would look great for a casual night out. This one looks a little bit snug across the bust to me, though. If the style is a bit out of your comfort zone I think you should be happy with the fit. Did you try a size up? The raglan sleeve gives you a bit of slack with the shoulder fit, since there isn't a seam marking the shoulder as obviously too big.

I think I will try it in the next size up. I tried on so many things that day I honestly may have tried it in a larger size and don't remember. I know I was having trouble getting anything to fit my shoulders. Thanks all!

Hi Jeanie! What a terrific choice! I think the neutral palette is fabulous in a sequins for daytime look. I wouldn't feel any pressure to feel fashion forward, if this trend doesn't feel like you. I would encourage you to try new things, though, and perhaps this fancy sweatshirt will refresh other items in your closet.

As for the fit: I just posted a sweater after having tried both sizes, and am now going to check again for the next size up. With raglan sleeves, I think some ease is always a good thing. What is the back view like? I know, one must be brave to look at a back view pic, but you can look at it and erase it right away (lol)! If I see a little pulling under the back of the arms or across the mid back, I know I need to go up a size. I think your sweater might pass the "back view" test with flying colors, and I agree with some other posters that sequins add weight that can affect drape.

Good fit is important, but happiness is even more important. Even though its something new, do you feel good in it? Do you want to pull it out of your closet and choose it over other items?

I get those funky wrinkly/puck folds a lot of times too - and for me, its usually a sign of the sweater being too small in the arm-holes - which, often doesn't translate to just going up a size - because often, when I do that - then its too big on the shoulders. So frustrating! For me, if the larger size didn't work, I'd return it - because I would always know that there was a slight problem with it and I'd never feel completely happy wearing it. However - just to be clear - the color is wonderful on you - so I wouldn't give up on finding something in this color!
