K/R - 3 pairs of jeans

Dang it is hard to get good photos! I took these by propping up my ipad on some books and using a timer mechanism.

I have my own opinions on these, but yours are welcome.

Pics 1-4: Ag Nikkis in size 28. The first pic is what they are supposed to look like. The next 3 are on me.

Pics 5-9: Jbrand pieced suede minx jeans in size 26. Again, first pic is what they are supposed to look like. Unfortunately, my ipad camera isn't up to the low-light challenge of black on black, but I hope you can see *some*thing. I lightened them as much as I could.

Picks 10-12: Vintage 7FAM linen-blend jeans. At first I thought they were fakes but they're apparently very early first-run 7FAM jeans, from when they launched the label.

I like the fit of the ag nikis on you and the 7fams. I'll let others weigh on the suede minx ones, bc I didn't love them but others might.

I don't have a good denim eye, but purely subjectively:

I like the AG nikkis but something about the back view seems a little strange like they need hiking up or something.

My favorites are the black suede ones, but I'm always on team #blackskinniesonawesomelegs does the length work well for you?

The 7FAM jeans I could go either way on, if they are super comfortable I would probably keep.

I love the flares in #10 - perhaps you don't "hate them" after all.

I love the Nikkis too. Are they comfy on your calf?

Angie, I'll be honest, I feel like the Nikkis look horrible on me. They're so big on my waist I keep hitching them up and they're turning my butt into a bread pudding. But yes, they are comfy on my calves.

As for the flares, aren't they just too big? I mean, they're bagging everywhere!

i agree with rabbit, my favs are the black ones.
i think the ag's are ok, but not great. imo, the calves look a little tight for me.
the 7FAM are ok, but its hard to tell on a bootcut with out shoes. can you style and repost?

I understand what you mean, IK. To my eye, the fits look really fashionable and current in the photos. Only you can attest to how they feel. This type of fit DOES feel hectically loose after wearing fitted skinnies for years - perhaps that's where you are at the moment? I felt that way too a few years ago - but it all sorted itself out if you know what I mean. Anyway. Something to think about. xo

Oh they FEEL fine. I just feel like these giant fits are super, super unflattering. I have some R13 relaxed skinnies that aren't flattering either, but the denim is thin and nonstretch and somehow seems to have more intentionality. I feel like these AGs just look like they don't fit.

The 7FAMs were $20 and are a light linen blend, so they might be worth tailoring to trim the flare. Sorry... not a flare girl!

You gotta love the "hectic" fit to own it. I will say my AGs are big on me and I think I got the 28. So you should be a size down because they should fit in the waist and still be loose everywhere else.

My vote are for the Jbrand, in pics 5-9 they look good to my eye and flatter from the front and backside in my opinion. I don't think the other two pair do you any justice.

IK, perhaps you need to pull up your jeans at the back and wear a belt. I worry that a smaller size in the Nikkis will not fit your calves. Have you tried the Rag & Bone BF's? They will probably fit more to your taste:

I find the J.Brands a little too tight on the calf - unless they are supposed to be jeggings.

And, the way a model is wearing an item is not necessarily the way an item should fit.

Okay my mind just blew up... if I can't depend on the model, what do I have left? I've lost Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and faith in my government -- for heaven's sake, TELL ME I CAN TRUST THE MODEL!!!

I do think the Jbrands are supposed to be jeggings. Those are the images I'm finding.

As far as jeggings go, the J.Brands do fit.

Okay, you got me. I often don't wear things 100% like other people do, either. But here's the deal. After working out, I now have a smaller waist, no hips, and bigger calves. So something that may look like they don't fit the calves are going to just plain fall off the waist and bag around my butt.

Sorry, I just don't see the wonderfulness of these AGs... they're comfy, but I'm working so hard on my butt I feel like it should look a LITTLE better than this in pants!

IK maybe you could have them tailored and then it will be a better fit or you could just search out the right pair for you new wonderful physique.

Uh oh, semantics again! What does it mean to look "better"? In light of oversized and fluid fit and BF jeans? Or BF sweats!

It could be that this kind of look is just not your style and that's okay - you have a strong defined style that works for you.

AG, "better" means not saggy. Saggy butts are sad butts IMO.

IK, I totally get it. You share the same opinion as some of my clients. You have to wear the Nikkis - and YOU have to feel fab in them. Pack them up and it's onto the next fab item.

I agree that the rear view in the Nikkis is not as flattering as you deserve.

And personally, I'm really challenged by the "yank a belt around it" approach to bigger jeans. I've been doing this lately with my two oversized pairs and I find the belt pressing uncomfortably on my hipbones all day. But if I pull the jeans up above my hipbones, they're kind of all up in my business.

I like your 7 FAM pair the best of these three.

There you go - I love me a baggy rear view if the look is deliberate. Always have, always will. I don't find it sad at all - I think it's insouciant and sassy and unpredictable and speaks of a certain defiance.

But I'm guessing you are in the majority here! And you look great in your preferred look.

It's funny how personal all of this is, isn't it? My impulse would have been to pull the Nikkis down a bit and belt them -- for more slouch! But I don't mind the looseness in the back at all. The photo isn't super flattering, but you have to account for the weird angle, etc.

I actually like all of these on you. If you want a legging jean, the J. Brands are fab. If you want a slouchy skinny, the Nikkis look good, but if they're not comfortable and you don't like them, do as Angie says and try the Rag and Bones. I have those ones and love them. I sized up one from my normal size. I could have worn my normal size but I like the added slouch.

I can see what you mean about the flares. The wrinkling might make them feel like just "too much" bag. But for that price, and in a fabrication that makes them wearable in your current climate, I'd say they are worth playing with.

Also, I think if the AGs had been less than $200 I'd be willing to take the chance, but $200...! And the Jbrands were silly cheap for leather leggings, so I'm willing to play with them.

Yeah, what Suz said. I like the JBrands the best out of all of them. If you like a well-fitted rear view, I don't think either pair of the blue jeans has that.

I like the Jbrand best. I agree with you, IK, that the rear view on the AGs is not as flattering as you deserve. With all the different jeans out there, it seems hard to justify this pair, seeing as you will surely find something you like better. To be honest, the rear view on the AGs felt to me like those pants that rap music singers used to wear, that would hang off their rear. (Or do they still wear them?)

Do you wear heels with your flares? Maybe taking some pix with you wearing heels would help better assess the fit.

IK, I like the Nikkis on you, but I get what you're saying about the rear view. I'm another "butt-less wonder" and mine always want to sag like that, too. I have some jeans where it's intentional, and my friends and family keep telling me they're too big.

For a jegging, those J Brands look awesome on you, and really showcase your shapely legs. If it's conventional flattery you're going for, they're it.

There are just so many jeans silhouettes right now, I think it makes it harder to judge what fits and what doesn't. The bottom line is that they should make you feel happy and comfortable.
