Kimono Jacket / Possible Purchase

Hi Ladies,

I am very taken with the kimono jackets I have seen some of you wearing and have been keeping an eye open for one.

I have come across two I quite like and would appreciate your thoughts. I think a kimono jacket would work well as part of my my Spring Summer wardrobe but would appreciate your thoughts..

If a kimono is a go, then do you think either of these might work for me. The first one is navy, not black

Go for the navy one and we can be twins!

I'd advise against the other one. I actually bought that one on eBay and was really disappointed with the fabrication. It was flimsy and just didn't hang right. Fortunately, the eBay seller accepted returns.

The navy one is a real winner, though. I love mine. Beautiful fabrication and design. It runs small though, so size up. I'm usually a small but I take mediums in Zara jackets.

One more piling on the navy train! I like that it also has some red in it, as you have red jewellery and shoes and I know you're a matcher.

Well Deborah, you know I would love to know I am not the only one wearing a kimono jacket around here!
My gifted one is an absolute dream to wear- soft and comfy and perfect for a little extra warmth and coverage of the arms.
I would prefer the navy one for you. It looks a little more your dressier style.

I love them for you, can you please get both? If not, I vote for #1, it's more dramatic than #2. A kimono is a great choice for your style, a no-brainer, if I may be so unromantic.

Were your ears burning recently? On Saturday I channeled your style to buy a lovely black drapey cardigan. I will post photos tomorrow. Thank you in advance for allowing me to borrow your flowing artistic style.

I like them both but would need to see them on The navy would be easier to style imo but if the lighter one worked it could make a simple summer pants & tee outfit really amazing. Are they silk Deborah?

I can definitely see a kimono working with your style Deb - you wearing anything drapey so incredibly well.

I love the blue for you but I also know you look incredible in both white and coral, represented in the second kimono you show. If possible, I would try both and see how they work with your wardrobe. I do think the white/coral would be lovely for summer.

Nancy, thanks for your input. I am actually edging towards the white one. I might PM you with so e more questions given your experience.

Natalie, I liked how that looked on you and thanks for the visual, it really helped. The kimono neckline is not always my best and I am now concerned that with my generous bust the navy kimono might. It be the best look.

Shannon, thank you! That white one is the one I am more inclined towards. I like the neckline better and that it looks like a softer drape to the fabric. I am also keen on going for something lighter in colour:).

Caro the white one is a polyester.

I might sleep on it before I make a decision. I know I can return but I find it a hassle when I am ordering from o/s.

I think this is the navy one that I ordered in spring. It is lovely IRL but I ended up returning it because I did not like the gather across the back. I just wanted to mention it because it is hard to see that in the picture - however not 100% it is the same kimono.

I guess the navy Zara one is a favorite from a few fabbers already. I am not sure about kimonos... but if it must be, my vote goes to the navy.

Another vote for the navy. I feel like the color pattern will work well into your wardrobe, as does the artistic "swing" of the jacket.

Thanks again for your thoughts. I have had another very close look at both (on line) and I think I might order both. I can see both working for me. The white one would be good for casual, over jeans, boyfriend shorts, tank dresses etc and could also go to work. The navy one has a bit more drama and again could go to the office and could be a good going out piece. The neckline is sits quite "flat" so i think its ok. I try very hard not OD on trend items but I think two Kimono jackets would be ok? The Navy one is chiffon!

The navy one is lovely. I didn't end up keeping mine, because I felt the arms were too long on me -- I felt overwhelmed by it. But that is partly because I could not fill it out. It's silk, which is a really nice feature. The lining is not silk but the outer fabric is just stunning.

Thanks Suz! I wonder how the sleeves will be on short me? The sizing is small and I had order a large to accommodate my bust:). Did you post yours when you purchased? I must go back and have a look:)
