Welcome to the forum.
There was a time when I explored and tried to figure out my "Kibbe-gory". I read his book, perused his Facebook page and blog, viewed pictures on Pinterest, and also read blogs and watched videos created by others who were interested in his system. I received some helpful feedback from members of YLF. Even so, I believe you will find that people either are confident and have a clear Kibbe category, or they have a result like mine: I found Kibbe's system much less helpful than expected in sorting out how best to complement my features. I am glad that I was able to learn about Yin and Yang, and to understand how to make better use these concepts when thinking about my personal style choices, but could not settle on a single Kibbe category and therefore, I left Kibbe behind.
More helpful to me than Kibbe have been: 1.Direct feedback from YLF on outfits I have posted. 2. The book "The Triumph of Individual Style" recommended to me by Suz an active and generously kind member of YLF. 3. A system called Align created by Florentina Mossou, which also makes use of Yin and Yang, but in my opinion takes everything a step further than Kibbe. Her system is logical, easy to understand and accessible, but it is fairly new. I paid for a private consultation, which was well worth the cost because it has since prevented purchasing errors. I am able to easily recognize the items that will most likely complement my features, and understand why details which may seem similar have a very positive or negative impact on the way certain items look when I wear them. 4. Angie has impeccable taste and fashion sense. I have learned more from reading her blog posts than from any other method.
The bottom line is that I have not seen a magic formula work for anyone here on the Forum. It's a bit like chasing the Holy Grail. Style is not only about rules and categories but also knowing how and when to break them.
