Keep/Return? Spring tops - ok for "smart casual"?

Hello all! I went on a mini shopping spree last weekend. Verdict on the tops I found? Do they camouflage my Apple tendencies well? Thanks for any input!

From the blockbuster sale at Fairweather - I was surprised at the HUGE selection of decent tops at such a STEAL! Happy to have found my size. Still have time to return if necessary. My SO HATES the emerald green top, and I can't fathom why!

So...
1 - Black/caramel diagonal striped dolman sleeve top. (Oops, I need a better-support bra.)

2 -Emerald green blouse with metallic design.

3. Black/cobalt colour-block top. (Yes, I would wear this with a black bra.)

I like #1 and #3, especially #1. With #2, I'm not sure about the photo angle, but maybe that's what's resulting in an off-balance feel ---- or it could be poor pattern placement, which tends to really bug me.

These are all great tops Helen - just make sure to wear a cami under #3 (it's a bit see through). Love you in that green colour BTW!

Great to see you post, Helen!! I love #1 and #3. With the see-through, it might be a flash effect. I've found that happens sometimes with certain fabrics. They definitely don't show anything IRL. However, when you look that good, people MIGHT take your photo, so best to be prepared!

What Manidipa said about #2. Hard to say if it is a pattern placement issue or simply photo angle. Colour is fab on you!

I like them all (esp the diagonal stripes) and with the potential sheerness of 3 sorted out envy your success!

The green is a beautiful color on you; I actually like the asymmetry and wild-looking pattern on you, though yes, there is a "taking over your bosom" vibe you'd have to embrace. If 2 goes back promise me you'll keep looking for an emerald top.

Probably the "drawstring" waist and neck that puts your SO off. It's an a-typical thing. I like them all.

Wow! What a great haul. I love them all. Jewel tones are SO your color. The emerald is gorgeous--SO must be crazy not to like that one. The striped top is uber flattering too--what a sharp piece to pair with almost anything! The color block top is fab as well--I think flash tends to lighten the under garments so I'm betting it is fine IRL sans cami.

Wow, good success with the top shopping! So nice to see your smiling face, too. I like them all. I thought I'd like the emerald one the most, but I'm not sure it's long enough or if it's just blousoned up a bit. As long as that's sorted, I'd say they're all three keepers!

Thank you so much, my dears! Spring capsule is coming along, thankfully. I want to avoid the panic I faced last year!

ManidpaM and Kirti - the silver pattern caught my eye, and of course I LOVE emerald - but you may be right that the asymmetry of the pattern is an acquired taste!

Angie - YAY! Thank you for the encouragement. SO THRILLED I get your approval! Definitely keeping them all then. (The striped top is my favourite.)

Shannon - whoops about the see-through-ness! I was wearing a white bra while shopping - NOT a good look with black tops! And thanks - emerald is becoming one of my favourite colours!

Suz - hee hee! I'll be ready for paparazzi at an upcoming dinner! I'll definitely have my black bra to the rescue. I think the pattern of the emerald green is kind of a quirky thing, which may have startled my SO, who usually sees me in modern classic pieces.

Vix - thank you! I ADORE emerald. You're right - I look busty-galore in that blouson style, which makes me think I'd only wear it on occasions when I don't mind that! I would have preferred an XL for a more floaty feel, but only L was left. Still works, size-wise, I think. It feels great on.

Carole - that seems to be the consensus!

Rachylou - you're probably right. Funny, I happen to love the drawstring and blousiness. When I pressed him, he just shrugged, said he didn't like it, then looked annoyed. Okay...thanks (?). I'd drop dead if ever articulated what he didn't like about a piece of clothing...LOL.

Kellygirl - you're so sweet! I DO think he's a bit nuts, in any case. LOL. I'll be wearing the striped one to a b-day bash on Saturday - so glad it passes muster here! YAY for a successful shopping trip.

Claire - I see what you mean. I was thinking of wearing a long, past-the-hips black or grey cami underneath to counteract the cropped nature of the blouse. I think it will look okay as is with a skirt, but with pants, needs a bit more length. I'll play around with it. Glad to be smiling here too - more posts as I sort out my spring/summer options!

Good shopping day! I really like the black and white. The angling of the stripes is very flattering (all I seem to find lately is vertical which is sort of wonky on the bigger bustline) and will be great for a party.
Emerald is a killer color on you!

Thank you Christieanne and Meredith - I'm quite happy with my finds, and am really glad I'm not off in the wrong direction! It was serendipity that I stumbled into this sale. I just need a few new bottoms and comfy wedges and I think I'm set for spring! I'm still wearing my chocolate-shade boots everywhere.

#1 is my favorite by a mile! Love those diagonal stripes.

You look amazing in emerald, but I'm not a fan of that particular top...something about the drawstring at the bottom bothers me.
