Keep/ retire x3

Hi all

Here are three pieces I am considering exiting my closet. I won’t give you too much information...I was all set to donate all 3 but pics make me reconsider 1 item.

1 vintage cream and grey car coat. Inherited from Grandmother. Not super sentimental though - I have other heirlooms so want to judge on own merits.

2 black and white tunic. One year old - made by friend. I don’t like it with leggings - always with black pants and flats. Worn for work.

3 thrifted shift dress. Maybe a size too big. Shown with flats and heels.

Opinions are welcomed keeping in mind I aim for a relaxed bold elegant style.

Cheers Sally just come back on after hours of tidying! The car coat so reminds me of a different one of Mum’s, possibly similar vintage ( Mum was born in 1920 and was almost 41 when she had me) . It looks a teensy bit tight.
The black and white I feel does not meet the “elegance” criteria.
The dress, however, is totally fab IMO.

I love the dress. I would dress it down with flat slides and wear that to summer BBQs. The tunic is really nice too. I like it with the pants. Maybe you are a bit tired of that silhouette? I’ve passed on a few of my longer tunics. I think the coat could be passed on.

The tunic and the dress imo look great on you and fit your descriptors. Maybe put in a holding zone if you’re not currently into them?

I think I like 1, but I would think it may only be an occasional coat? I am wondering if the fabric is that older style wool itchy fabric in which case I would pass on.

I agree on the other 2 items. Although I do like the colours in 3.

That said, I like to move things on that I am not into and so do tend to be a little rash on occasion.

I like the coat and think that monochrome plaid looks quite modern. It looks tight though?

I like the sheath dress a lot. It doesn’t look too big. The slightly looser vibe makes it more casual. I also like that jacket. Classic.

The floral dress is my fav of the three. It seems the most "you" and I think it fits well.

I don't love the tunic -- tunic over skinnies is a little tired, maybe? It's a fine work outfit but not exciting.

I adore the plaid coat, but wonder if it's too snug for proper layering. Is it a coat you could wear open in milder weather or too heavy for that?

Are there any fit problems to the coat? I can't tell by the pics, but it does look stunning regardless! I also think light coloured wool looks soo fab with blonde hair like yours. The dress is also superb and doesnt look too large to me!

I like the dress the most too, and could be taken in if needed. Ditto to trying the coat open, and what about the tunic with white jeans or other pants if you always wear it the same?

i love the coat, but not those colors on you, so since your not sentimental about it, let it go
the tunic seems to fit and i can see where it would be useful on these days when you need to just "throw and go", so i'd lean towards keeping
i've got mixed feelings on the dress...my eye has adjusted to the midi lenght, as so this looks a smidge short, maybe with sneakers, as shown in #3, or flip flops (jandals, i think is what you call them).

I think keep the dress. I understand the tunic is not on trend but it looks flattering on you, so keep!

The dress looks fab - keep! The coat looks good to me. Is it comfortable? If so, keep. The tunic doesn’t look bad, but if you’re tired of it, donate.

The dress! One should have a slightly large dress to fall back on for when you plan to eat or just feel a bit bloated.

The coat is maybe a bit too small? But it would probably be good open. I think you can do better. I think this shape is more suited to a lighter weight fabric.

The black and white top looks like a good fit. You can embolden it with some accessories.

The dress looks like a good fluid fit. It is not as fitted as I normally see on you so it really depends on how you feel in a Bigger size.
It’s an excellent shape though.

I really like the dress, it looks fresh and sunny on you and the pattern placement is super well done and flattering. It doesn't look too big from here haha but if it makes you feel anything but great and you're not interested in tailoring it let it move on to someone else.

The coat is going - it has scratchy wool on my neck. It is quite roomy with enough room for layering for my climate (sweater and scarf). The colours don’t thrill me though.

I am ready for the tunic to go- it is my last one and I have never been wild on them on me - I don’t feel great in them.

The dress is the one that I will hold on to. I was harassed into buying it in a thrift shop- an upmarket one where it is curated stock, good brands, Prices about $30-$50 instead of $5. Jon really likes it, and I think it is flattering although not the trendy style- but a classic style. It does work with flats - so it would be good for bbq or lunches etc. or even working from home. It is lined which is good and bad. Now I have it I feel I will keep it at least til summer and see in season how I feel.

I like the dress best. I think it says “relaxed bold elegant” more than the other two. The tunic is just bold casual, and the coat is classic and relaxed looking but not really elegant or bold. I like the colors of the floral print in the dress.

Yes exactly Staysfit- I do have pieces that are classic or essential or just casual but these pieces don’t quite work for me anymore.

Haven't read the other responses yet.

1: This looks like a nice coat, but it looks a little too classic for your style. I would probably edit it out and give someone else the chance to wear it. It looks like it is probably well made.

2: This is a nice piece--fit and proportions are good--but I'm not in awe over it. If you're not loving it, I would send it off to another home.

3. LOVE this one! If you really like it and would like to spend the money to get it altered, I would do so. It's really gorgeous on you.
