Some time ago I have asked your opinion on my new puffer coat:

Angie's verdict was that fit, shape and color are good but she was concerned about the sheen of the fabric. As my pictures were taken indoors with a flash I have decided to take a picture outside with natural light before returning this coat. So for the last time what do you think - is it too shiny or not?
Also I would like your opinion on the cashmere tunic I have bought it last week and have until Wednesday to return it if it does not work for me. I like the quality,the style, the length and the price ($60), I am in love with the cowl neck but I am not sure if this color looks good on me. I don't know how to describe this color - warm beige? warm off-white? warm pale grey? Anyway - what do you think?

I like the cowl neck top but the color is maybe a little wishy washy, maybe try a bright pair of earrings with it to lift the color up a bit. The jacket is gorgeous!

I like the cut of the jumper, but I think the colour is draining your complexion. You'd really need some bright colour near your face to lift it. Do you ever wear bright lipstick? To be honest, I think if you could get this same jumper, but in a different colour, that would be your best option.

I like the jacket, but it *is* really shiny. The biggest concern I have is whether you lead the kind of lifestyle that will be able to always keep it in super white pristine condition? (Because sometimes I've found in the past shiny fabrics can tend to leave residue stains on the fabric even after dry-cleaning.)

Darn, I suspected that about the color of the sweater. I think I hoped against hope that it is not too bad but...OK, back it goes.:-(

Angie, with your blessing now I am keeping it. I have never had a light color coat before because I thought it is impractical but somehow this one caught my heart...

I love the shape and the style of the sweater on you (and those BOOTS!!!! they are even more spectacular in natural light). I don't dislike the color on you, but a different color (say, teal blue) would be stunning.

I like the the jacket a lot in terms of how it looks on you. My issue with light-colored winter coats is that they tend to get grungy fast, especially at the cuffs and the hem. That would be my only hesitation.

Jonesy, I am going to wear these boots for the first time tomorrow as it is going to be cool enough!
I think I will return the sweater and hope to find a similar style in a better color for me. I suspect I will not love it in the end because of the color...
I think I will risk having a cream coat. It is machine washable and I can try to clean sleeves periodically so they don't get too grimy. The fabric is the kind you can wipe out so I hope it will not be too bad.

LOVE the coat. Seeing it in natural light makes a big difference. The fit and shape on you are GREAT. The color looks good on you, too. (I love white winter coats, but even before kids I could never keep them clean.)

The sweater's fit and shape are perfect on you, but count me as another one who is not sure about that color on you. I see you've already decided to return it. Hope when you do you find another one in a different color.

I differ from others here and say the I really like that sweater for its elegance on you. You may not get that with another color, but another color may be more flattering for your skin. I like this though, and would consider adding leopard somewhere (of course!), maybe a medium wide belt. . .?

I have to agree this sweater is not the right color. You can do better.
When you first posted this coat I felt there was something 'off' about it but could not figure out what it was. This time I really like it. I asked myself what the difference was and went back and compared the initial photos with these. I figured it out. It was your bare knees with this coat. That may sound rather odd but, to me it makes a lot of difference in my perception of this coat on you. Hope you'll keep it looks fab and cozy for winter.

Loved the puffer then...Love it now, glad you are keeping it!!

I have several cream/ ivory/ white/khaki coats and jackets. I don't worry about things getting dirty, they can be cleaned. My most expensive trench and wool cashmere coat are light colored....Dry Cleaning at the end of the season works for me!

Thanks everybody for your help on making these decisions: to keep the puffer and return the sweater. What would I do without YLF?!
On the side note I just noticed how weird a winter puffer coat looks on the background of green leaves!:-)

No, Renata, puffer is ivory "fresh" color and sweater is "dirtier" beige or off-white color - I don't know what to call it really.

LOVE your new coat, Sveta. Such a great fit and style for you. I really liked the tunic on you, I'll be the odd one out here and say I like the color, it's just very neutral and that can be a good thing.

The coat looks totally different outside. That sweater looks really nice with your boots and I am a sucker for cowlnecks. Maybe you can tweak the color and find something similar? Or I am wondering if you put on some lip color and asked again what people would say.

Kim, I bought the puffer at Costco of all places - and the price is $80! They have them also in silver grey ( very nice color but just not for me :-(), dark brown and black.
As I said I have decided to return the sweater and look for another one in this style but better color for me. I like the light color but is should be "fresh", not "dirty' I think. I wonder how black one would look on me - maybe I should try one and ask you for opinion? I always thought I look awful in black - but maybe I was wrong?
Scarlet, I don't like the bright lipstick on me - actually I don't wear lipstick at all: my lower lip is deformed a bit after a car accident and I think lipstick just attracts attention where I don't want it.:-( I use lip gloss instead.

Sveta, I like the puffer on you now that it is not so shiny! I also really like the cowl neck sweater - the shape is perfect & though the color is not ideal, you could easily add some accessories - maybe a long necklace, colorful earrings, a bright jacket. The fit is just so darn perfect!!!

Personally, I find that lip gloss draws more attention than a matte lipstick. To me, anything shiny just makes you zero in on it. I think you would look lovely in some lip color!

I hear what you are saying, Sveta, but for what it's worth I never saw you as having deformed lips in your photos. Wow, sometimes Costco has great things! I miss Costco.

Shana, I don't think this sweater is a layering piece really. It is too warm to layer under a jacket indoors - for my lifestyle anyway, cannot really use scarf because of the cowl and even a statement necklace is problematic with this cowl as well - should be either very long to dangle below the cowl or very short to fit above the cowl. Anyway my point is that this type sweater is more a stand-alone piece IMO and it needs to be the right color for me to love it. YLF helped me to undestand it. At least I know what style I am looking for and I am sure universe will provide!:-)
Scarlet, you are so sweet not to notice that! I have already had 3 plastic surgeries and it is much better now but still my eye goes towards it first when I look in the mirror or at the picture... Well, maybe I need to do lipstick tryouts and post them here?:-)
I always check clothing section at Costco when I shop there: found some great basics for a great price there. Also we periodically have fashion clothing sale there from Quebec...french flair, you know:-)

Hi Sveta, I really like the coat. If you like a little, metallic sheen, keep it. It looks great on you !

I like the cowl neck too ( I heard someone recently call it "greige" - grey/beige and apparently it was Jackie Onassis' favorite color ). But I think in the winter, it may be to "blah" on you.
