I have admired both Michelle's sensibility and persistence in getting a puffer coat while it is still warm. I almost decided to leave this purchase to the next year and survive the winter in my old coat but then I saw this puffer coat, tried it on and quite liked it.
I bought it, came home, got pictures taken...and I am not sure anymore. Granted, I have never owned a puffer coat before so I definitely have some adjustment to do. However I still think it is not the best on me. Please, help me to understand if it is working on me and if not then why. I tried on dark brown as well but I liked cream better against my skin. Can I even wear cream puffer with my size and height? Does this color make me huge? Is this the right cut? The first picture has pretty true color but more than IRL sheen due to the flash.
Help the puffer newbie!!!!

The puffer size and length look fine. If it's cold you want as much covered as possible. I'm not a fan of to the floor length puffer coats, they look like a person is swallowed whole. And when they are too short, (above the bum) guess what else gets cold besides the legs. The color is hard to tell so I will defer that to others. This coat is quite shiny or is that the flash?

I like the fit, but the color I'm not crazy about for you. I vote take it back and keep looking.

Lisa, it is quite shiny but less than in the first picture - closer toe the sheen in the second picture without a flash.
Renata, do you think I should try the same coat in a different color (dark brown?) or look somewhere else?

This looks like a beautiful coat, Sveta. For some reason I feel like I see you most in earth tones, so the cream color feels different for you. I like that the coat gives you some waist definition. How do you feel about it?
Edit: The shine doesn't bother me. I'd like to see the brown coat on you.

I don't know much about colors on skin tones...I just go with what my gut says, and I think you could pull this off. Then again, I might change my mind if I saw you in other colors...so guess that means you need to go shopping and show us more options Sveta!

I love the first one...the color seems very neutral and you could wear with about anything!!

OOOPs ..I thought thes second one was yellow...but it is the same...anyway I still love it if it is ivory/cream:)

My first gut reaction is that I really like it on you. Doesn't look too puffy --- you can still see your svelte figure! I like the color on you. Looks fresh.

I actually quite like it on you. But I'd be afraid of such a light-colored winter coat getting too dirty, too fast. (Then again, I am a dirt magnet. YMMV.)

i can't quite put my finger on it, but it's not a 10. i think the sheen with the light color is a bit enlarging. it also looks a size too big, especially below the waist.

Sveta - I love it on you! I like the cream color - as we get bored to tears with dark winter coats! Ivory is still neutral if you aren't afraid of keeping it clean. Grubby ivory is

I like the above the knee length for puffers. By nature, they have very little body shape definition, so when they get long (especially on a tall person), they get way too boxy.

I can totally see this with a variety of scarf/hat/glove colors. You could go bright like cobalt, classic like red, warm like earth tones. It might have too stark of a contrast if you plan to wear it with black boots. Try unzipping the coat a bit and having a scarf fill in the gap. Is the hood removable? I find hoods annoying against my back when I am driving, etc. (I never wear them as hoods!)

If you're concerned about the boxiness (non-existing), why don't you try to wear it with a belt? My new puffer is way bigger than yours, but it has a contrasting elastic belt, which gives it a nice definition.

How is it that you live in Canada and have never owned a puffer coat?? LOL
The fit is good on you. I like it, but the color is your choice. I love cream, but get it dirty way too fast, and hate having to try and clean these things.

I do own several shorter down filled coats, but I also wear long underwear in the winter so my backside doesn't get too cold, along with my legs. This year I'll be adding leggings (nice thick ones) into the mix, and very tall boots!

In general, the cut of it looks pretty good, though looking at where the shoulder seams hit you, I'm wondering if it's a tad too big through the body? Though I love the idea of a lighter-colored winter coat, I'm too practical and would worry too much about dirt and grime, especially at your cuffs. So, I would vote for that general shape and style (somewhat fitted, just above knee length, no horizontal bands of puffery) but hold out for the perfect color and fit. Just my two cents, of course :).

The fit of the puffer is KILLER. How do you feel about the shine? Is the coat made of a satin type of fabric? If so, may I suggest finding a more matte version. I'm all for the light colour though.

I think the color, the fit & detailing is fantastic, the sheen not so much. The combination of the light color plus sheen makes it a bit teeny in my mind. But with your stature & body type, I think you can rock a great puffer & will probably have lots of choose from so I say keep looking!

I bought a cream/ivory puffer a couple of years ago upon Angie's recommendation have loved it. It never got as dirty as I was afraid it would!

Michelle, I cannot say I am very happy about these news - b-r-r-r. I got to like mild winters we had for a couple of years now.
Sara, it is still in my closet and I was thinking the same thing: take a picture in the daylight outside. Maybe I will do it tomorrow...
Shana, I am leaning towards continuing shopping for that great elusive puffer. I have seen tomato red today (Angie, do you hear?) but it was the wrong length and detailing so no go
There is still time before the snow comes...at least a month?!!

Sveta, I think you will be happy in this one. Lighter colors look excellent in the winter.

My thought was that it would look different when you really wear it because you'd be in pants, or at least tights.
