Keep or return? New Anthro Tops

I just got these two tops in the mail from Anthropologie and am not sure about the fit. I ordered S and am wondering if I should have ordered M. Do you think the larger size would look better? What about the orange sneakers (DH wasn't real enthusiastic)? Are my rolled skinny jeans too dated looking. Thanks for any suggestions for improvement.

I hate to admit it, but I actually prefer the rolled skinnies to cropped.

I can't tell about the fit of those two tops. But I really, really, really love the orange sneakers.

I love the orange sneaks too. I'd wear those in a heartbeat. As to the fit of the tops - the orange one looks like it could be a tad looser across the shoulders and upper body.....hard to tell with the navy one. And lastly, your rolled skinnies are a classic and NEVER look dated to my eye

I am concerned about the length of the tops. I personally don't like my tops to extend past "the crotch" area. It seems to shorten the leg line. I think that is why there are so many high in the front, low in the back tops on the market now. If you lift them up to shorten in front of your mirror, you may see what I mean. I do prefer the navy blue to the orange one on you, especially with the continuous navy line. You don't seem to have a difficult body to dress and I suspect you look great in a lot of outfits. Your smile is fabulous!

Do both tops fit the same Bonnie? From the photos the orange looks a little snug across the bust while the navy looks fine. I prefer the pattern placement of the navy over the orange, but you look smashing in that shade of orange. Thumbs up for both the sneaks and the jean roll

The orange sneaks are far and away my favorite element! Always take DHs with a grain of salt.

I think these look perfect, but if you are feeling they are too tight in bust and shoulders (doesn't look it to me) then a M may give you more leeway up top, but a longer tunic length. And then maybe you'd want more slim pants, and/or heels to get the overall proportion right. Which means more futzing. If the tops feel comfortable and not tight, I say keep the smalls.

I'd wear these outfits in a heartbeat! The curve of the hem and where it fits below bust gives you a nice pleasing shape.

Also you look incredible in orange!!!!

I think the small fits you perfectly. The medium would be too loose for me. I love the orange one. But I love orange. I prefer rolled and cuffed jeans. I am not a fan of cropped jeans. There I said it. I may get kicked off the forum for that.

Thumbs up from me on both, but do prefer the orange - well - because it's happy! Sneaks look fab and so do the rolled skinnies. Not dated at all.

old chic: I agree about preferring the rolled skinnies. The crops always get stuck on my legs when I sit down and the rolled skinnies can be easily adjusted to the perfect length.

lisap: Thank you. I glad the rolled skinnies work because I kind of like them. Both tops fit comfortably but I think I like the look of a looser fit.
Cins: I see what you mean. The black top with the continuous line doesn't shorten my legs as much as the orange top does. I do have a terrible time finding flattering outfits because of my short waist - belts and button ups look terrible on me.
Aida: Both tops fit but because of the pleating in front they look tight across the bustline. like the orange color, too. Maybe I need orange pants to lengthen the leg line instead of the white pants which seem to shorten it. Glad you approve of the orange sneaks and pant roll.

Or do you think the white pants work?

How do the two tops feel to you? Honestly, I wouldn't notice that either seems small if you hadn't mentioned it. I really love the orange top and sneakers on you. Once DH's eye adjusts to the sneakers, he'll love them, too.

Oh I love the orange top. It looks like it fits to me, but I'm not great at judging fot on others. I like the white to break up the orange. I think it might be too much orange with pants too. Like a carrot That said, I saw some orange pants at banana republic while I was out today.

I'd totally wear the orange pants with the navy top, not the orange top. The orange top looks fabulous with the white pants. Alternatively you could try light blue jeans. But not orange -- that would be carrot like smitte says...

Windchime: They both feel very comfortable. Maybe I'm used to wearing more flowy tops and as Angie would say should "adjust my eye" to a more fitted look.
smittie: I don't want to look like a carrot and I'm glad the white pants look OK.

Orange pants DO exist, Bonnie. I saw them at BR a few weeks ago and they flew out like hot cakes. (And they are not available online, or I'd have ordered them). I love orange with white or shades of soft blue.

I love BOTH outfits! I think the tops are perfectly proportioned, too. If you went up a size, I think they'd look unkempt.. or like they were swallowing you up.

I'd stick with the pants pictured, too. I think orange pants would be too much. I LOVE orange..but as one element of a look, rather than head-to-toe.

Hi Bonnie --

I think the fit on both is fine, but IMO the orange sets off your skin and hair in a way that the dark navy doesn't (you seem made for a brighter blue!).

Agree the white + orange is a great warm weather combo and that you could experiment with some different jean washes.

I'm generally looking for a longer leg line, and find that keeping the same level of dark- or lightness works pretty well -- so instead of orange pants, you could try medium blue, olive, dark khaki.

The great thing about the top is that it REALLY draws the eye to your glowing face, so I wouldn't worry too much about shortening leg length. Clearly you have to keep the orange sneaks, *but* a different shoe with rolled or cropped white pants would offset the issue too. [I'd try a skintone, light, or light metallic that either goes up the leg a bit or doesn't interfere with the leg line.]
