I’ve been enjoying the parade of outerwear, during this season when that is often all that we see of each other—forms in the shape of a coat, moving around outside. It is nice to see the variety and colors on ylf.
My own jackets are very familiar here, like the red puffer and new yellow rain jacket, or were recently posted just before the challenge, like my purple raincoat and pink vest. I’ve finally pulled the big parka out from the cellar, because I went to a concert and did not want to wear a sweater over my dress. It is from the 90s, but I just picked it up from family in March.
I *did* layer though—tights, a long-sleeved cotton bodysuit, then a full-length silk slip, and then finally the 2-piece dress. I had long thought this dress had been lifted by a roommate 25 years ago, so was delighted to discover it in my parents’ attic recently. The top has tucks around the waist, and could probably be worn over the skirt. There is a long sash in the same fabric that I didn’t wear today. The skirt has POCKETS and is just full enough to move easily but not so much as to get in the way. I have a little knot in the hem here, because I rode my bike. I untied it for the concert, but I secretly like the look.
Thanks for looking!
