Katerina's Colour Challenge: who's in?

In response to Katerina's recent style-rut post, I have issued a challenge, and she has accepted! In the spirit of camaraderie and as an antidote to mid-winter blahs I will be keeping her company. Who would like to join in?

Challenge: create outfits (1 week/5 days) without defaulting to a dark neutral (black, grey, brown, navy). These colours are actually allowed if part of a pattern, but not as a solid garment. Lighter neutrals and dark colours permitted.

Starting Monday (February 11th) lets flood the FORUM with colourful WIW pics!

*Bonus points for something in your favourite shade from the red family
for Valentine's Day (February 14th)

This would be a very easy challenge for me, despite the fact that I have lot of dark blue.

This will be a challenge for me indeed, as I use dark neutrals in combinations with colours all the time. It will be so much fun and a perfect challenge to fight my recent winter outfit frustrations. I am already thinking about non dark neutral footwear as a starting point....

This will be a challenge for me as my winter wardrobe is heavy in dark neutrals. I will try for at least a few days that I am not living out of a suitcase in the mountains. .Brrrr. White pants will get a workout for this challenge. Question, are dark burgundy and dark olive considered neutrals or colors for this challenge?

Joy, you had me worried there for a while, without burgundy and dark olive, I would basically have no footwear for this challenge, LOL

Now I regret not getting a pair of white boots, I was tempted but decided I have enough boots already. Would be perfect for this....

Great idea - I hope to participate but have a complex week and clothes might not be forefront of the mind - being summer it is not as hard though although black cropped trousers are a work staple!!

Can I get credit for today? I ruined a pair of white jeans when yucky gutter water splashed on them, so I am reluctant to wear these for most of next week since we are expecting rain again. This is what I wore today to run errands.

Don't wear my black pants this week? OK. Giving up both my dark brown leather bomber and my knee-length navy wool coat could be harder depending on the weather, but today I wore my red puffer and was fine.

Haha I'd wear my red pants once and then have to go naked. Unless I could count my black tweed, black plaid, black striped, and black/white glen check pants. Hmm... I do have midi skirts in toffee, camel, and black/beige tweedy plaid, are those allowed?

Olive, rust, and wine are in as are blue jeans (all washes). Don't let the lack of coloured footwear put you off. Bending the rules here is okay. Don't worry about dark outerwear either, but do get out your yellow muffler or raspberry beret. The goal here is to break a dependence on black, and to take a break from dark neutrals. Camel, light grey, taupe, winter white, cream are all good. Outfits don't have to be bright (ex: camel and blush) or light (ex: purple and teal). One day, or all five...

Me today. Wore black boots to the rink--do I get credit for the blue (rental) skates?

Dark green pants, grey socks with black musical notes, raspberry mock T sweater, pink paisley scarf, red jacket, leopard print gloves, creamy hat with gold in fuzz. My ice dance partner (HA! We are nowhere near that level) also slid past the rules, with an eggplant colored sweatshirt and very light grey, almost white, pants.

If wine, olive and jeans are in, I'm in for this challenge for 5 days. It's a good impetus to bring in my cream and rust items, which I've been rarely wearing this winter. I'm in the midst of major work deadlines and training hard for upcoming races, so I might not get a chance to post. But I'll be enjoying perusing the posts when I have a moment.

Well, if blue jeans are in, I might be able to play. Hmmm. I'm going away for a week on Wednesday, so it will be complicated, but let me see if I can do it. An added challenge to pack, right?

Another early entry. My WIW today:
Cream pants, taupe silk “tee” under my taupe faux leather jacket to make a modern “sweater set”. Cream and grey scarf, cream and grey snake print booties, grey hat, taupe ostrich skin look bag. No black. It was -9F this morning. Sorry about the blurry photos. This was yet another experiment with neutrals: cream/ taupe/ grey.
