One of my style goals for the coming season is learning how to create really and truly casual outfits while feeling like myself. Smart casual isn't a big problem, but my smart casual is everyone else's "Sunday-go-to-meeting"!

So......

1/2: Perhaps the abundance of color makes this a little less "casual?" I liked it, but also want to make sure it's not too "crayola" for a real live grownup.
3. More casual -- wearing my bf's and new slipper flats from Target.
4. For home teaching, this is my version of denim on denim. I wore the
ballerina flats to give it a little polish for teaching from home.
5. This skirt needs a new photo --- cuter IRL. IT is gored, which changes the
direction of the strip. Not sure about the cons here. It's more conventional
with nudge wedge sandals.

Anyone have any suggestions of how to grow my Spring "honest-to-God-she-really-looks-casual" capsule?

I love #1 & don't see crayola - I see a sophisticated use of colour:)
All the others are great casual go to outfits imo:)

Nailed it! IMHO colors makes it more casual.

The outfits all look really casual to me, but you my dear, will always look like a Princess, no matter what you put on. I think it's the royalty that people see in you.

I love 3 and 4 in particular! I don't think 1 is too crayola.

It's hard to choose a favorite here, I think I need to copy you : ) The yellow purse is definitely not too crayola. I think I like the Cons better than the Keds style shoe in #5, they have more presence, or something.

Thanks for taking the time to comment -- it's so much easier for me to put together a dressier look with confidence than these. I have fully embraced the bf as one of my casual choices, and I'm getting used to the Cons, which are quite comfy.

I really love the blazer with the cuffed jeans.

I love all of these. Super casual is looking good on you! I also like the cons over the keds in #5. #1 the ketchup and mustard reminds me of Kirti. I thought I like the BF best in #3, but then I saw #4 and I cant decide! the full skirt with the jean jacket in #5 is just divine! Well done casual capsule

I think these are all perfect casual outfits Beth Ann. I struggle with casual wear myself so need to follow you in this journey.

What I like about each of these outfits is although they are casual and read that way, they are still "neat and tidy". I hate when casual slips into sloppy, you know?

These are perfect casual outfits, absolutely! Fun, easy, yet with a bit of polish and drama. Casual style is so much harder than people realize. But you are nailing it.

I also struggle with my casual style - it seems to fluctuate between not-casual-enough and so-casual-I-feel-sloppy. I think you've nailed it with all these outfits. I think the casual flat shoes dress down the outfits and give them the casual feel.

Great moves, and I just love #1. The tones are perfect. It would not be so for primary red, yellow, and blue (my bias) but the darkened colors are just delicious.

Thanks for input, great YLFers! As I fully enter into "summer mode," I'll keep working on (and posting) casual looks. I've upped the quality of my lounge at home wear, too, particularly since DH works from home.

Claire: I call these looks "Diva's day off." I imagine what a startlet would wear when no one was looking!

Pil: Good observation about the Cons. I wasn't sure that they were for me, but I like the way they make a statement, and, even though my feet are largish, the substance of the shoe balances my frame.

Merwoman: I am looking for a white purse for summer. I've found two, at double and triple my price point! I will perservere!

These are all STELLAR outfits! Love #1 and 5 the most but they are all great casual styles I completely relate to and can imagine feeling FAB in. Bring on more of your causal style, Beth, I need all the ideas I can get:)

I need to pin this! You look terrific. I particularly love #1 and #5. White Cons look so good - I think you could pair them with almost anything. I don't get why I didn't understand that earlier. The yellow bag is gorgeous, too!
