June - end of challenge and new bags!

Hi all

I completed my challenge with the four remaining items.
- vintage Japanese scarf
- my Mums scotch thistle brooch
- floral blouse
- denim shirt

All these outfits were worn except one - the scarf in the hair! That was an experiment but the scarf felt out of season. Occasions vary from work to a French film festival to a dinner out to rugby managing. I enjoyed the brooch and was pleased to wear it. The denim and floral blouse are both pieces that feel very much like me and were easy to mix up for my real life.

I purchased a new tan bag second hand to replace my broken one after the mugging attempt in April, and was given the green one by my sister for my birthday. My bag game is currently strong!!

I mostly enjoyed this challenge although a couple of the pieces were challenging to mix - as Bijou said that is where jeans are very useful!

ETA rugby manager is for 16 year old son’s team. Often wet muddy and I have been given this warm black and red coat to wear. Ponte leggings and gum boots are the best combination for this activity!! Keeping it real!!

The green bag is KILLER and sooooo you: "sporty elegant". Adds a fun crisp and graphic touch with the strap. I like those outfits best! Fab match with the white sneaks. The cognac bag is fab too, and a great match with your boots and hair.

Loving the addition of the sentimental brooch and scarf. Special, and I bet it makes your heart happy.

The column of denim is yummy, and so is the pink. And you absolutely rock those aviators! Looking better than ever.....

Thank you Angie. Yes I now have four cross body bags that are fun and easy to wear. The brooch was something my Mum wore a lot in later years because rings, bracelets and necklaces were too hard on rheumatic fingers. My Mum had Carla's colouring so dusky lilacs and purples were fantastic on her - better than me!

Both your cross body bags are super, but I do especially like the green one!

I appreciate you setting the challenge, since it got me through a difficult month of continuing Covid related activity restrictions. I also learned a few things about the garments I chose and I have made some keep/donate decisions based on those lessons as well as rekindled my love of a few OBGs!

Thanks Carla! I also found it a welcome distraction in a cold, wet month with more work than anything else. I am donating anything (had been considering the teal coat) from the challenge, and I have fallen back in love with a couple of pieces that were sitting there unworn.

Great job. I didn’t take pictures the last 8 days but I didn’t wear jeans. I love your cross body bags as I’m a fan of crossbody bags and yours are very stylish. Well done on your challenge. You did really well. You even managed to make sports management look stylish. And thanks for thinking of it.
I will reflect on the challenge and write something in the weekend.

Wow - your sister chose perfectly, that bag is fabulous! A very strong end to the challenge, my favourites are:
- scarf in your hair - very cool and a nice way to style your hair differently (you seriously have beautiful hair)!
- blouse with the light coloured jacket
- Brooch on you blue coat
- Denim shirt with red leather jacket.

With the brooch, have you tried grouping it with other brooches? 3 brooches in different sizes, same metal, can be a good look on a jacket. They are easy to pick up at thrift stores.

Sal, those look like terrific new bags for you. Especially glad you replaced the tan, but I can also see the green one offering a lot of fun possibilities come spring.

The green bag is such a good complement to your wardrobe colors! I like the headscarf idea too. It’s a look I struggle with, but you do it well here—look like you could be in the French movies instead of just watching them.

Thank you Lyn. I do love the green bag and have a fair bit of navy to make it work. I don't feel very glamourous at the moment so that is very kind.

Fashintern - that is kind re the headscarf. I should be more confident doing it - I think it suits warmer weather than our current 0-5 degrees C..........

Thanks Kathie - My Mum wore this brooch a lot so it is nice to wear it. She wore it on blazers/jackets and it really suited her soft autumn colouring.

Suz - yes definitely keeping the red jacket. I can fall into the trap of thinking every thing has to be either a workhorse OR something I love. There is space in the middle for these completer pieces.... that add some variety.

Thanks JAileen - it was shocking but I got my bag back - but damaged. I was not alone and was unhurt - but you do feel violated for sure.

Great job, Sal. All fun outfits, and very you. Even the rugby manager look--the sunglasses, tall boots, and outfit proportions all look so cool. The new bags are terrific; I especially like that outfit with the green one. Your sister made a great pick for you!

Thanks Firecracker- being a rugby manager is a busy job (getting 25 15-17 year olds to the park, keeping the score, and taking the photos...) And being nervous about the tackling....
