I recently joined two close friends for an excursion to the Point Defiance Zoo to celebrate one of the girls' birthdays. We had such a blast - it was a cool day but we missed the rain, so the animals were actually pretty active. While Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle is larger and is one of my favorites, Point Defiance has some special exhibits that are well worth a visit.

One of the high points of the day were watching two baby tiger cubs snoozing in the nursery - I didn't manage to get a good pic through the glass, though I snapped one of an adult tiger (#8) during a magical moment of eye contact. Another highlight was at the red wolf exhibit, when suddenly the entire pack started howling and barking in unison. It sent chills down my spine! So I'm including a few of my favorite snapshots from the day in this bunch of pics.

A sample of what I've been wearing over the last week, continuing my staple formula for this fall:

#1: Burgundy pencil skirt, mustard zip-shoulder sweater, burgundy and gold beaded necklace, leopard print pumps

#2: White and navy polka dot button-down blouse; coral boatneck sweater; gold, turquoise, and emerald bumblebee pendant; black pencil skirt; beige and black colorblocked flats

#3: Emerald sunray pleat skirt and knit top, emerald and green cardigan, brown tights, burgundy low-heeled booties

#4: Cobalt knit dress, multicolored fishnet hose, black and white oversized abstract patterned scarf, black and white dalmatian patterned low heels.
