I want to finally get high rise jeans, and I tried this pair, it is levi’s high rise straight model 724. What do you think? Are they too high on me? Do they emphasize tummy too much? Is this size ok? Length? Any other recommendations to try? Any feedback much appreciated.

Wawa woom! They look like they where made for you! I can't really tell by the pics, but is the zipper long enough? I find too short zippers to be a major faux pas. If thats not an issue here, Id definetily vote keep.

The look better on you than they do on the model. I don't think they emphasize your tummy, because they come up past the widest point, instead of making a line there.

Synne - thanks. Not sure what do you mean about short zipper? It is very high rise so zipper is quite long.

What tummy? I think the jeans look great on you! They are flattering. Are they comfortable?

Welllll...I am not sure TBH. I have never noticed your tummy in your WIWs but I do in these. Mine is much bigger than yours and I would not like to show it in these sort of jeans, I prefer to ( try to) hide it. Without success often, but some clothes do sort of drape over it.
I think the back view is very flattering though, nice curves. They fit well I think, and are a good length. I think women are kind of meant to have a bit of a tummy. So I may be putting my own preferences onto you, but you did ask.

Adriana and Mainelady - thanks, jeans are very comfortable, soft and stretchy - but not sure if it is a good thing and if they will keep the shape.
Jenni Nz - I appreciate your honesty. My eye goes straight to the tummy area when I look at the picture so that is why I ask. It seems I am not the only one who noticed this I am tucker and usually don’t hide the tummy and don’t want to wear jeans that would require it.

I think the length will shrink up though. Are you ok with these being a bit higher in the length?

Honestly, I don’t think you need to worry about your tummy. I’m sure it’s fine. I’ve seen your pictures and know that you have a beautiful figure.

It is natural to have a bit of tummy and it’s better to show it off in on-trend jeans.

Being on-trend makes you look more attractive (I know this is controversial).

Looks like a perfect fit and length. Smittie makes a good point though, if they shrink up will the length still be good? I see a little tummy curve but nothing that needs to be hidden

I think they look good, and we wouldn't be specifically looking at your tummy if you didn't say you were worried about it! Plus-stretchy, soft, and comfortable is a good thing-since many jeans aren't

Thank you all. I left them in the store and forgot to take a side picture. But still thinking about them. This is 32 length, 34 will probably be too long. I used to wear 34 only with heels but can’t do heels any more. But I am not sure I would like them shorter. Good point about shrinking.
It seems that it is combination of that time of month when tummy feels more pronounced and not being used to such high rise that is making me question this.

As for zipper length, here are two visuals. Notice how the one on the right
ends way above the crotch? This is what I mean by too short. It can look extremely weird, in my opinion. Maybe Angie could do a blog post about this issue?

OK, I'm going to be completely honest.

They fit you really, really well. But yes, my eye goes to the tummy. Not that it goes to YOUR tummy, but my eye goes to the tummy on every pair of jeans of this style that I see... and to my eye, no matter the figure or tummy shape, it's not super flattering. Personal poison eye, I guess. I prefer a high rise with a wider leg, it seems to have a different balance.

Thanks for all the feedback. I am still conflicted. I would like to get high waist jeans but not sure if it is flattering enough on me. Should I keep looking, maybe try a different pair? Any suggestions?

I"m with Elizabeth. I actually don't find high rise jeans flattering from the front view on anyone. My eye goes straight to the tummy area, and even on extremely thin women, the fly and front area is bulkier and weird on a high rise jean. These jeans look excellent from the back, and really highlight your curves in a nice way. I think the tummy area is going to look like that on just about everyone. And THIS is why I don't love a high rise /mom jean. I'm wearing a pair right now, and feel fatter than usual.

I don't want to start anything, but I vociferously disagree with the statement that being on-trend makes one look more attractive . I don't understand that at all.

I think they look fantastic from the front and the back, and I love the length. High rise jeans are so comfortable--love them!

This is very interesting - now that I've read E and L's comments. It's a very subjective thing, and you sometimes can't help your poison eyes. No right or wrong. Just personal preferences - as with most looks, fits and silhouettes.

I'm an '80s gal so I love the look of the high rise as long as it doesn't dig into you when you sit. It makes the legs look longer in flats. And since I am all about flats - I'm biased. I also like the womanly bulge on the belly. It's real, and how we were made.

Pleated high rises are a different story. They create pouff more generously, and that can be tricky.

True statement. You don't need to be trendy from head to toe to have style.

It seems that high rise jeans are controversial. I should probably pass. I also have a bulge on my tummy from a surgery that no amount of exercise can fix it, and I am self conscious about it. So better not to draw attention to it.

The woman across the room who is well dressed—-and “well-dressed” includes an element of “trendy”, to me—-is someone I’m more attracted to.

Or put it this way- an outfit that has some trend element is more attractive. Not the person, but the outfit.

I think they look great, but it's better to pass on them if they don't make you feel great (which seems to be the case, regardless of the varying opinions).

Smittie, I've written about that, but cannot find the posts. I'm in a rush, and my apologies. To my eye, the most stylish people I know and see have a trendy element to their style. The element can be large or small. There has to be an element of "now", if that makes sense. So agreed. Maybe that's how you see it too.

I like these on you Anchie. I think they are flattering and look good. However I think with jeans it is good to be picky and there are other pairs out there. If these don’t feel just right there will be more pairs. The smallest change in rise or width can make a big difference- I have been observing jeans fit in Italy and I think they do it better then we do in NZ.

I think curves and bumps in jeans are par for the course for many of us and I like them. On my shape I am better to flaunt them rather than hide them which ends up making me look less shapely. I always struggled with long tops and tunics - now tops are trending shorter again I am much happier!! We are all different though in our priorities and preferences.
