January 30x30 outfit 16 leggings and a striped scarf

Outfit 16 - weekend outfit. Today, I tried to make an outfit with my wine red leggings, which are a wardrobe orphan. This outfit is really outside my comfort zone (due to the leggings), but I will give them a chance before I decide their fate.

No 1-2 consists of the leggings, black suede/leather sneakers, a black longer jacket made of some kind of soft sportswear material (my favourite casual jacket) and a black shirt. I added a colourful striped chunky scarf and a bling vintage brooch. I was wearing a grey patterned leather handbag and - for fun and for the picture only - a pair of long shiny purple gloves. No 3 is a picture of the brooch with the scarf.

I also tried another outfit - No 4, which I put together around a blue oversized sweater with short sleeves (also almost a wardrobe orphan). I layered a thin black top with a blue/black collar under the sweater. I wore my old wide legged navy trousers and grey boots. Then I added a large patchwork striped scarf and my grey vintage handbag (worn as a clutch) and a pile of leather bracelets. No 5 detail of the scarf and bracelets. I tried to create a slight retro vibe. I am quite happy with this outfit and save it for later

I think the leggings look FABULOUS on you. Sometimes I find that if I "practice" wearing something outside of my comfort zone, it gets easier and easier. But I never push it. If something is truly outside my comfort zone, out it goes. The leggings look particularly good with that scarf and brooch.

I like both! The tops with the leggings are long enough. I really like how you repeated the Burgundy color in the scarf and pin. It visually draws your eye up and is elongating.

I also like the pairing of a long-sleeve top under a shorter sleeved sweater. I really like 3/4 length sleeves. This is a stylish option for wearing them in deep winter.

And, as always, your accessories ROCK.

You look amazing in the first outfit, but I hope that you can wear the second sometime soon. Those wide pants were made for you..

I echo the others, bit looks are great! Your version of casual is still very polished and maximal but you certainly wear it well. I love the brooch and the scarf combo — somehow their textures seem to echo each other.

How wonderful that you have a great wide-legged pants outfit ready and waiting for you. The short sleeved sweater with long sleeves layered underneath is lovely. I adore that look but cannot wear it myself (too cold).

Katerina, your weekend looks are so different, but equally fab! I am glad you stepped out of your comfort zone to try th leggings with your favorite jacket. That is a natural pairing and your scarf and blingy brooch....oh yes!
I love the wide leg pants on you and am happy to hear you gave an almost orphan a chance. Your scarf and your bangles are perfect accents. I really like how you are working with what you have in your closets and sharing your adventure with us.

The leggings don't read as leggings - they are not skin tight and look like slim trousers to me and work very nicely in the first outfit. The second outfit is super. I love the wide legs and the leather bracelets with the retro bag. Agree that it is a keeper!

I am not good at casual - although I would love to be able to put together chic casual looks, which I admire so much on others. I almost always end up either in a somewhat dressy outfit - that is when I make an effort - or when I do not make an effort, I end up dressed in a black outfit with a "random" scarf, i.e. boring Casual is a challenge for me.
