J Crew Safari Print Linen Skirt - Update

I ordered Karen's beautifully modeled J Crew safari pencil skirt (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....crew-skirt) and it arrived about two hours ago. I can do it up but if I ever want to sit or breathe, it's not going to work

So back it goes. I might have considered sizing up but lo and behold, there isn't a larger size in petite. Great. Just when I'd gotten to a good stage about my weight gain, I discover I don't fit into J Crew sizes. Now I feel like crap.

Instead I'll focus on NAS and hope that something there will fit.

Well my dear, you never look like "crap". And I am sure that is not the only safari pencil skirt out there. Clearly JCrew sizes run very small:)

Maybe you could find some leapard fabric and have your seamstress make you a pencil skirt? Pencil skirts are pretty easy to make and probably quicker than some alterations. Thrift stores often have a bunch of fabric, so you could even look there.

Aww, you're fabulous. I think you'll able to find another animal print skirt once more fall merchandise comes into stores. Maybe Cleo Petites will come up with one.
I also like the idea of finding fabric and getting it made.
I love VPL stuff, and always wanted one of their tank tops but they only go up to an 8, even when I was skinnier I was a ten on top

J.Crew petite sizes run a full size smaller than their regular sizes, in my experience. So it really is them, not you!

Aw, that's too annoying! Would a regular taken up at the hem work, or do you find that does odd things in the waist-to-hip area for you?

Yes, Shannon--wtf is up with J. Crew to decide that short women never need any larger sizes? (Also their brick and mortar stores don't carry anything over a twelve at all. I am sure they're not the only ones who do this, but it's irritating.)

That stinks but I think Anna's right, the fall stuff is coming soon. There's bound to be some great patterned pencil skirts. You might even find one that is more versatile than the linen skirt.

I have to say I noticed the J Crew petite sizing seemed off by a full size when I ordered my black silk shirt. I pored over the sizing charts of both J Crew and Banana Republic and after much hesitation decided to order a size 4 Petite. The reason for my hesitation was that just last month I bought a BR shirt in size 2P and it fit me perfectly. The corresponding size chart measurements for J Crew indicate a 4P. It hasn't come yet so we'll see, but their sizing did seem very small to me.
