I recently tried out a flat from a start up company that boasted about their ballet flat as "revolutionary." The company is called Tieks and after I moved to San Francisco, I realized that all of my other flats with no support and little padding just wouldn't cut it. These really are the most comfortable flats I own and required no break in time. (see pics of the color I got here: http://bit.ly/ZEJ6KE)

But I was wondering if anyone else had any other great options? I always like to have shoe choices and as it stands these are the only things on my feet when I know i'm going to be walking at all in the city.

I have a pair of Tieks too. They are very comfy, and it's nice that they fold down for travel. Mine are a tad big though, I should have went a size down, but I am usually 8.5 so I went for 9, but 8 would have been better. They have a lot of pretty colors too!

Are you interested in sassy sneakers? I find the Josef Seibel Caspian sneakers really comfortable and just "road tested" them for a week on cobblestone and dirt roads.

Those are cute, Lauren, and I'd never heard of them before. Good to know for when I inevitably need to replace my comfy but non-supportive Repetto ballet flats. I always wear them for travel and city walking, and they are getting worn to bits. I was thinking of purging them and then saw a picture of Angelina Jolie wearing the exact same shoes in a similarly battered state. I figured if they're good enough for her...

I have a pair too, and like Raisin, I also feel like I could have sized down.They are definitely comfy. I reserve them for special occasions when I want to swap out my heels for flats, but maybe I should take a cue from you and wear them for every day.

I also recommend - at half the price - the CeCe ballet flat from J.Crew. They are also comfy and have a hidden small wedge, which tends to look more flattering than a true flat on my short legs. On these J.Crew flats, I sized up.

Lauren, when I saw mtgirl's post, I knew she was talking about my new Geox flats. They are very very comfortable and I think a very different look than the Tieks (which are adorable by the way!). The pointier toe may give you a little variety. The Tieks look like more of a classic ballet flat with a rounded toe. i like to wear pointy toes with just about everything but especially bootcuts and trouser jeans because those never seemed to work with ballet flats to my eye. I was going to say that the Geox don't have a ton of arch support, but they should have at least as much as the Tieks. Same idea: they are very soft and mold to your foot to give you support and cushioning. Might as well try them with free shipping/returns via Zappos, right? Maybe if enough of us buy them, we'll be able to convince them to make 'em in a metallic too!

K can shop....how do the Geox run width wise? I have a narrow heel so I usually have a hard time without a Mary Jane type strap.

Hmm. I have wide feet, but not a narrow heel. They are cut low enough that they accommodate my wide foot, but I think they would also work for someone who doesn't have wide feet. If your heel is narrow enough that you need a higher vamp or a strap typically, these might not be the ones for you. They're on Zappos, though, so free shipping and returns. Why not try them? (I'm always in the "why not try it?" camp. Things often surprise me.)

Wow! Those look great. My recent trip to Rome taught me about proper support and cushioned soles.

Ferragamo "my Joy" flat is great for travel but not a lot of support for all day walking. Nicely cushioned and soft and they fold!

Wow i'm going to have to try the Geox! Thanks for the tips everyone!

I have a few pairs of J.Crew flats and I find that they always pinch the front of my toes or are too tight for all day wear.

I have a pair of the ferragamo Vara bow pump which is perfectly comfortable but again, I found not sustainable for all-day wear.
