I've become a Boston South End Curly Girl

It's not a dramatic transformation, and you all might not notice much difference, if at all (AND it's not a great pic--and sorry for the restroom locale, LOL). But the curls are much more pronounced. The stylist wanted to take off a lot more to even out the length, because the top is markedly shorter (splits and breakage issues), but I resisted so he went less drastic. Now I have swingin' curls, a book and how-to- DVD and a boatload of product, LOL. I even got a cupcake out of it--it was the stylist/salon owner's birthday! I am a happy woman.

It's great, Una. Who knew that you'd be shampooing much less frequently so as not to dry out the hair, and using a specific upside-down scrunching protocol to apply conditioner, and only need a haircut every 3 months? (Because our curly hair doesn't just grow vertically--it grows horizontally, diagonally, and only eventually downward, heh). I am inspired now to actually--drumroll--take hair vitamins and eat healthy! Whatever motivates, right?

Awww, Mochi, I love a happy ending...

I have a friend with curly grey hair and she was told to stop washing it at all! I don't know if she's still on that regimen but it sort of brought her hair back from the dead, so to speak.

You look terrific! The curls are romantic and spunky at the same time. And weren't you talking about a romantic punk streak to your style persona! Perfect.

Looks great on you and from what I've read about the cuts, most women's hair gets even better as they lay off the sulfates, hydrate (from without and within), and use the styling products/tips.

Oh, I guess I'm being pointlessly geographical. (South End is a funky, hipsterish Boston neighborhood where the salon is located.) I'm not even originally from here, but I get prideful sometimes.....:)

(Apparently Curly Girl/Devachan is a method, and stylists around the world have been trained in it...my sister is friends with a Devachan stylist in New York, and I'd been getting pressure to visit that salon. But I have my spot now!)
