Is this skirt too short for me? I'm 52.

What do you think? It's from Rich and Skinny denim. It's made from a nice drapey lyocell fabric. I think it will be nice for our hot summers. Please excuse the poor styling and photo quality, I took this in the dressing room.

But I am nervous because of the rule that one shouldn't wear short skirts after age 35 and I am well above that.

So, keep votes Yay, return votes Nay.

I'm also 52 and I am always tempted by skirts that short, but I resist and I think I'm right to do so. If I want to show my legs on a hot summer day, I bust out the short shorts! LOL

I voted Nay. It's not so much the length of the skirt, but the pleats and the way it balloons out and then goes in at the bottom. So I'm just not liking the skirt itself....

Your legs are quite fabulous for any age, but since this is to be worn with bare legs I personally would prefer a few more inches of skirt.

Now if you were looking for a trendy piece to toss over opaques, I'd say go for it....

I voted nay- I bet Angie or someone will have some recommendations of great denim skirts. I also like the lightweight denim for summer- and, being in my 50's, I'm constantly frustrated with the length. Takes a lot of looking, I know. This one seems a little short- sorry.

I think you could pull off a short skirt if it's the right one...this isn't it. Too much going on--- drop waist, bubble bottom, mini.

I agree with those who said the length itself isn't the problem as much as the skirt overall. To me, the bubble style looks very young, and combined with the length it just gives off a juniors-type vibe to me. I think if it was a straight denim skirt at that length it would be fine.

I find it hard to judge the length, because of the photo's perspective (taken from above instead of straight ahead). But my feeling is that it might be a few inches short.

Sorry I voted nay as well but like the others have said maybe just a different skirt is required. It also looks like you're wearing it down quite low on your hips so maybe you are a bit uncomfortable with the shorter length? Just a thought

Are you planning to wear them with bare legs? I think they would look nice with leggings or hose I don't think I'd wear that length with bare legs, and I'm 25, but I'm crazy and conservative. LOL.

I actually like the skirt, and I don't think it's too short, but I think it's sitting low on you. I always try to pull skirts down because I'm short-waisted. I'd pass for something a bit more versatiel.

I'm voting nay on the style and the fit. It looks too loosey-goosey in the waist and hips. I think you could find something better!

I voted nay too. I really like the style of the skirt Denise (although I would also personally find the low waist annoying), but feel it needs to be a good few inches longer. Just above the knee would have been perfect.

Thank you for all of the replies. I was in LA for 5 days and returned it before before I drove the 6 hours home, after seeing the early unanimously bad reviews for this skirt. It's like the movie that bombed in previews. You guys will keep me from looking silly, that's for sure!

Nice choice to return I also vote nay, an extra inch or two would be nicer. Also I find shorter skirts in hot weather, my legs stick to everything.

Hi CocoLion, while I don't agree with generic rules about skirt length based on age, I would vote nay on this particular one. I think the shape combined with the length is just not super flattering. A higher waisted sleeker shape might work in that length, though.
