Personally, I find this really disturbing. Although the girl obviously looks older than 10, styling her and posing her in an adult fashion just seems wrong.

And from a purely merchandising point of view, why would I want a 10-year-old modeling clothes or wearing make up that obviously an adult woman would be purchasing? Her body shape is not the same as mine so how applicable is it?

very very wrong. I can't appreciate this one bit. The slippery slope to child pornography is just too close here. A 10 year old should be modeling for Old Navy, not Vogue.

My daughter just turned 10 last week. These pictures just make me sick to my stomach on so many levels. There is nothing at all that is appropriate in that photo shoot. That first picture bothers me in the extreme.

There is no doubt that 10-year old girls love to play with mom's clothing, makeup and shoes pretending to be grown up - I did it too. However there is a big difference here and I find it really disturbing too. I don't have a daugther but if I did I would not want her to be modeled like this for sure! I find it really sick...kids should be portraited as kids and that deep decolletage on the 10-year old body is plainly perverted!

It is highly disturbing. Lolita disturbing. Creepy! The attitude, the poses, the clothes do not lean towards kid playing dress-up, more to kid being sexualized and marketed.

I'm glad you brought this up! I was reading Marie Claire and the fashion layout pics of 13 year old Elle Fanning were not right to me. But 10! They look more like made up dolls than ladies, even young ladies. Not right in my book!

I get that teenage models model women's clothes. The world is OBSESSED with youth. Pre-teen models should model kids clothes and look like kids - after all that's what they wear.

In fact, the teenage models that model women's clothes are also too young. They often don't wear the types of clothes they model either! That's why I want to start my own modeling agency

Wow. Just wow. I agree with Sparky: I am sick to my stomach over this!

- The poses are very sexual IMO.
- The makeup is also sexualizing... bright red lips, bedroom hair... open mouth... inappropriate for ANYONE under the legal age of consent.
- That plunging V-neckline? What. the. heck??
- Not only turns a child into a sex object, but seems to turn actual, sexually mature women into old maids before their time. No wonder the plastic surgery industry is so huge!
- Idealizes a prepubescant body as the height of "womanly" beauty. I've had enough of a hard time being jealous of 15-year-old-slim hips - this is too much!
- On a practical note, Fashion has once again made it impossible for me to know whether I'd look good in the clothes. And who's looking at the clothes right now, anyway? Seems like another disgusting move by an industry that rationalizes use of underweight models by claiming to aim for "walking hangers."

I think she looks very 10-- at least very similar to how I looked at ten (if someone would have done my eyebrows, anyway) and very trashy. I don't think anyone should encourage people to make their 10 -year-olds look trashy because after my experiences with public elementary school students today, there are enough people that already do that.

I think the clothes and the postures are wrong ... all little girls go into their mommy's makeup bag and play sometimes, so I don't mind that as much.

My friend's 5 year old recently decided to put lipstick on herself, the cat, and her sleeping daddy. So cute.

I have very strong negative opinions of this but they have already been stated.
I do like how in the article that the UK lawmakers are looking to place restrictions on the use of children in advertising and modeling -- it's about freaking time, too!
I wish her parents would be charged with child exploitation.
French Vogue (on the news last night) claimed that they like to use provocative images as that what fashion is all about. I hope that it's French Vogues lowest selling issue ever.

French Vogue, what were you thinking? Emmanuelle Alt just took over, right?...and she has a young daughter.

And sad too.

I don't get it, when did it become a bad thing to be a young girl with no make up and no thought of what you looked like because you were so busy PLAYING?

It's that "body as instrument vs. object" argument. We are so interested in what our bodies (maybe clothes too some times?) look like that we've forgotten what they are FOR...for enjoying life!

Every single person involved in this from her parents all the way up to French Vogue is SO very wrong on so many levels.

This is as close to child pornography as you can legally get IMO - SHAME ON FRENCH VOGUE, SHAME ON TOM FORD AND MOST OF ALL SHAME ON HER MOTHER for selling her daughter's innocence.

VERY disturbing, and repulsive..
.I actually had a couple agency's approach me when my son was quite young after someone important saw him a a Kids R Us opening in the mid 1980's I was absolutely firm with my decision not to involve my child .
Child predators lurk everywhere...they love this stuff!

Totally out of bounds. If it were more "playing dress-up", then OK; however, this is too close to the edge of child exploitation. I'm very, very disappointed in Tom Ford, French Vogue and think her parents need to have an intervention.

This is appalling. I was actually disturbed by this ad featuring Dakota Fanning, and she is quite a bit older. But it still seems really inappropriate.

I just don't get this...from any perspective : the media, the parents, the company's. It brings to mind something that has been really bothersome to me for over a year now and that is that Willow Smith ( Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith's daughter ) has been on the same trajectory and everyone just drools over. It is disturbing.
