Love cats, but can't get their fur around my face or I get wheezy and watery, scratchy eyes. We can't leave gym bags, back packs, or suitcases open - or we will find Sam inside. She seems to like things made with cordura, and if denied the inside of the bag, she will make a nest when it collapses, or sit atop it if it has structure.
She has 'bad fur' that is wooly and tangles. The vet suggested we get her shaved down. It is weird, but keeps her healthy and less fur flys! After her cut, she feels like velvet, and always gets lots of extra petting to make up for the shame of having a ridiculous 'lion cut'.
Sam doesn't eat or chew stuff, but our previous cat Dusty, put bite marks all over my yoga mat and foam roller. Ranger, our black lab (also no longer with us) ate DH's leather slippers, and a pair of his leather gloves. When he was a puppy he like to knaw on the baseboards where they jutted at corners. He also ate part of DH's truck when left alone for 10 minutes. (He was going to 'retriever school' and DH had left some kit in the field and had gone back to fetch it.) We had to replace the driver's side seatbelt, and sun visor, and the stick shift. The steering wheel and seat had bite marks from that day until we sold it! Ranger was good at pulling screens out from windows! So DH got very good at fixing screens, and we always had a bolt of screen fabric in the workshop!
