Hi all

A couple of “shopping in my lunch break” WIWs.

I always enjoy seeing forum member’s WIWs and taking little gems of inspiration from them. These outfits were inspired by the lovely Mirjana. Thanks MJ!

Outfit 1 (semi white out)

This outfit was inspired by Mirjana’s all white outfit, as seen on this post. I love the elegance of white on white, especially when combined with tan accessories.

I don’t have the pieces to do a full white on white look so I went with a black and white skirt instead of white bottoms, ivory top and ivory jacket. Tan boots and white and tan bag and tan jewellery to keep the palette light.

Outfit 2 (black, tan and plum + cream)

This outfit was inspired by MJ’s black, red and camel outfit.

Well, that was the original inspiration! I substituted plum (almost burgundy) for red and tan for camel. I also wore a cream lightweight cotton jacket (it’s still pretty warm here).

This was the first wear for the asymmetrical skirt, which I bought last summer. It is laser cut with a yellow gold petticoat (!) underneath that gives the skirt an interesting texture.

Love the white on white! The Zara jacket is very cool with the frayed ends, which I didn’t notice until I clicked on the find. It’s just a little RATE The skirt is so interesting and texture-rich, which adds a fresh dimension to the outfits. Always fun to see you post, Brooklyn.

It is fun to see you in white. You wear it well. Both are great outfits on you, but the first is my favorite. I need to track down that Furla bag.

Thanks Joy! The Furla bag came from Yoox but is quite a few years old now. I like that it has a tan/beige aspect too. Very handy for colour challenged me! You might track one down on eBay.

Thanks Aquamarine! I don’t mind a bit of RATE. I still really enjoy fray hem jackets and jeans. But, like many others, I am over rips in jeans.

I love the asymmetric skirt - really fun with the lining, and the off white is great on you. And yes the belt gives such a good finish - I will look to imitate that.

Angie, I actually wore trousers on Monday. I have had them in my closet for 3 or 4 years and it was their first wear. Ha ha! My husband really liked them so I told him I would *try* to wear them more often. But I don't think that there is any danger of me losing the Queen Skirt title anytime soon.

Sal and Mac, the wider belt is useful for repeating the tan of course and for doing a semi tuck, which is a bit more relaxed than a full tuck.

Always love seeing your midi skirts+tall boots outfits! I think of them as signature. I'll go ahead and take that cream tweedy moto and the cognac double belt and the boots, thankyouverymuch.

Ha ha Aida. Thanks! It's good to see you back. I have often thought it would be possible to do a true seasonal switch out of clothes on this forum by swapping items between members in the north and members in the south. But what I borrow I might not want to give back

Angie, just for you, here is a pic. It makes me look like I spend all my lunch hours shopping, which I don’t! This is also inspired by one of MJs outfits. I was going to post it but there is a sad story about the jacket. I discovered after I took this photo that it had pilled badly at the back. See second pic. I took it back and they gave me a credit note. Sad, because I really liked it. I need another blazer if I am going to wear trousers more often!

Oh, love your outfits, Brooklyn! I had been eyeing that blazer in the grey-green, so interested to see your note about pilling.

Thanks Chiara. I was disappointed because I really liked the style. But my handbag had created a terrible mark on the back and I also noticed pilling where I was sitting and it had rubbed against the arm of my chair. I had only worn it about 6 times so it wasn’t fair wear and tear, in my view. The retailer did not argue with me about it, so full points to them.

How did I miss this one??? OMG! Your cream jacket is TDF(especially love the beige long boots to this beautiful outfit!) and the laser cut skirt with the double buckled obi belt!!! You are such an inspiration for me, and you now got another killer from me (as each time you post!!!:-))

ETA: pants are also perfect, now am sad for that blazer(how could that happen??). What did you mean, you need another one if you will want to wear the trousers more? Do you wear trousers only with blazers(and between them, speciffic ones, isn' it!)...a great point-very true for me, too....
