Anyone play Cards Against Humanity? It's not for everyone, that's for sure, but I love it. In any case a lot of the question cards could be used in a fashion context.

This one in the post title got me thinking about how I can mix up my uniform a bit. Yesterday my fallback ponte skinnies were in the wash so I substituted a pencil skirt and it worked really well as an alternate skinny item.

So my answer is "pencil skirt/skinnies". Want to play? Can be colors (red for blue) or fabrics or styles or emergency fix or anything fashion related (boxers for a hat)....

Googling this cards of humanity thing now, looks interesting!

Mine would be metallic anything can be substituted for black anything.

Ok maybe not anything but metallics have grown to play a big part of my wardrobe in the last few years - shoes, purses, etc. it's my new neutral.

The game is actually fairly awful. It's like adult Apples to Apples. It's sold out at the moment, I think. I adore it because it can involve clever wordplay and I have a really dark sense of humor. But it can be offensive to some. Just be warned!

Cards Against Humanity is my fave. Best played with a dark sense of humor, it is sometimes very offensive (imho in the best way) and definitely adults only. You probably don't want to play with your adult children or your parents, regardless of age.

My fashion sub is pointy-toed flats for heels. I love heels, but walk everywhere and destroy them quickly. I find that a low vamped pointy toed flat can provide some of the polish andleg lengthening appeal that heels do, much more so than a round toed ballet flat.

High five, ATLynn! Also not to be played with people you don't know well or co-workers. And I know people who take out the worst cards and play a cleaner version. I prefer the down and dirty but I get that it's not to everyone's liking.

I love Cards Against Humanity! Definitely not a game to play with everyone, though.

A basic top and an interesting scarf for an interesting top.

And speaking of Apples to Apples, this is a hand we played at Christmas. My dad picked the red card on the right over the red card on the left. How can such a thing even happen????? And do I even want to live in a word in which such a thing can happen????

Dental floss can be used for thread if you need to sew on a button--much stronger than the junky thread provided in those little kits.

Plastic bags can be used socks if you need to keep your feet warm and dry. Best if the bag is sandwiched between two pairs of wool socks, but also works on a bare foot with a sock pulled over the bag as the outer layer. The latter worked surprisingly well on a cross country ski trip in early spring when the snow was unexpectedly slushy.

Toothpaste for silver polish - really useful if you're travelling and your silver jewelry gets tarnished.

Yes, yes! Safety pins for seams, E! In my younger, (much, much) sillier days I did party in hot pants held together by nothing but large safety pins in lieu of seams, so I can vouch for this one :-)! these days I keep safety pins in my desk drawer at work for modesty and hem-style emergencies!

Wise, young padawan rabbit! Toothpaste, baking soda, vinegar and eucalyptus oil are always in my cupboard. I use them for everything from cleaning to science experiments for the children!

In a pinch:

Hard liquor can be substituted for spot-treatment for acne (dries out the spot. A friend's mom used Everclear when she was a teenager).

Neosporin/antibacterial cream can also be substituted for spot-treatment for acne.

Hard liquor can also be substituted for leather relaxer (to stretch shoes that are too tight). This is how I got my other nickname…tequila toes.

I'm seconding Gaylene on the plastic bags on bare feet thing (also latex medical gloves under other gloves in freezing weather.

I read a long article once on the theory of vapor barrier clothing next to the skin for heat regulation, and it explained that it wouldn't get sweaty and icky as long as it was right next to the skin (but I see how wool with it's properties underneath would work too). Plastic next to the skin kept my toes and fingers warm and toasty on a multi-day backpacking trip in the snow - and I couldn't feel it after the first few minutes.

Lipstick for creme blush (Carter is absolutely right about conditioner for shaving cream I have been doing it for years! Wash/condition/shave ;-))
Crisco for deep moisturizing treatment for feet. Make sure your feet are still damp. (you will smell like french fries but your feet will be soft!)
dishwashing liquid for bubble bath
Vinegar for glass cleaner (put it in a spray bottle) -- mirrors shine and smell like salad!
Baking soda for kitchen cleanser, (stainless steel sinks look so great after a baking soda scrub) works well for the tub too!
