Deb, I did have fantasy images as a teenager: Sally Field, Mary Tyler Moore, Doris Day. I think in college I imagined myself as Jane Curtin. At some point my fantasy image was a mix of Goldie Hawn and Meg Ryan. Now I have no idea.

I've had a fantasy picture of myself in my 20's somewhat of modern Carmen/amazone type - black hair, red clothes, long nails, everything bold. And I dressed and kept myself that way. Requires lots of maintenance when one is fairest of them all nordic type blonde
Now my fantasy image is strong, confident, important, probably rich persona, traveling the world, living the life and doing everything in style And she never trades her personal comfort for beauty - never. A tad arrogant lady with huge self-worth. And she owns her style, no matter how eccentric

I love these! So much fun and empowering. Lots of UWPs and Parisian sophisticates and fashion icons...

And I think it's fine not to have a fantasy life - probably shows that your real life doesn't require one.

OK --- so it's 10:30, and I've not yet eaten breakfast, but this was fun -- and revealing. My "Fantasy Fashion" pin board is full of dresses and pics like #1 and #2. But a girl can't dress in flowing gowns everyday, so the following photos are for "fantasy self in casual life."

I find this quite curious. Many of these are quite "doable," and I seem to be drawn to flow of fabric and draping with bits of essential structure. These photos don't show it, but I'm often pinning strong color impact like #1. In my pins, I rarely pin lots of colors -- I prefer one strong statement.

So........ why do I only have one pair of wide leg pants? Oh, wait, probably because the stores I shop aren't stocking them. Why do I not have a single full skirt? Hmmm....probably because I'm scared they'll look frumpy and I have to get my sewing machine out!

I think I could, with a little effort, make some of my fantasies come true.

In my fantasy life I am a rock-poet/godmother of punk in NYC whose BFF is Robert Mapplethorpe. I did wear a skinny black tie with white shirt, ripped dark jeans and Converse hightops back in the day.

OK, these are not perfect examples, but I did have them in Pinterest. In my fantasy life I am a gorgeous, successful, jet-setting artist. I meet with clients in my fabulously sleek and sophisticated but creative outfits, and look like a rock star when I'm breezing through airports on my way to my next amazing destination.
