I first saw this dress from Mango in March and instantly feel in love. It's in a gorgeous colour, I love the side ruching and I simple love love love the neckline.

I know it's going to fit like a dream, because I have a similar dress in black that's sleeveless (also from Mango) and its my favorite dress.

I didn't buy it then. I was looking to buy more summery casual printed dresses back then as I was shopping for a beach vacation. But I've kept an eye on this dress, hoping I'd buy it when it goes on sale (it's a bit pricey).

Well, it's on sale NOW. They don't have it in stores (I know coz I checked in June) and there is just one piece left online as well. I've got it in my cart, but I put myself on a shopping ban for July for a SYC challenge.

The dress doesn't fill a wardrobe hole. I have plenty of dressy dresses. But I really really love it and feel that if I don't own it, I'd miss out on something HUGE and might regret it. What do I do? Should I let my emotions get the better of me and buy it. Or should I stay determined and NOT buy it, knowing that I'll never get a chance to own this one.

Help!!!!

I love the ruching on the side. It gives it a lot more visual interest.

Joy, you're a genius! I think you're right. If I lose it, I will go on and on searching for one like it (and compare, and never feel satisfied).

Ok ladies, I'm buying it. Oh hell...there goes the shopping ban! But I'll make an exception for this dress (that I plan to wear on my birthday this year) and then reinstate the ban.

I was so torn about it that I asked my husband what I should do....he looked pretty flabbergasted Could NOT BELIEVE I hadn't bought it already and was actually asking for advice! He asked me to stop acting like a child and just buy it.

Yay, I'm so happy you bought it! I think a shopping ban is a good exercise but when you see something like this you feel so strongly about you have to allow yourself to indulge.

The dress I currently own and LOVE is this black pencil dress.

I think the Blue is even better...lovely colour and fabulously simple, elegant detailing. Yet, I can still wear it casually with a pair of ballet flats and a large relaxed tote.

Agree with Deborah! If it fits and works out as well as you think it will it's going to be a great addition to the wardrobe. And if it won't fit you can return it and go on with your shopping break without the what ifs.

I'm glad you bought it. I still remember a pair of Frye boots that I let get away from me because I thought they were a "bit pricey". I have looked for those boots for a couple of decades now. They never re-appeared. I made the decision that when an items "says my name," I buy it instantly.

Thanks Sterling....I know what you mean. That's why I added I might regret not buying this dress....and like others point out, at least I can now try it on for myself. Maybe its prettier in my head than it is on my actual body...once I know, I can get over it.

For me, identifying other items to toss out because they are "meh" or somehow just aren't right, maybe on review are a tad uncomfortable, or I don't feel confident, or never have the right shoes, or whatever, would be important so I could see it as honing style and focusing on the things that really work.

Definitely buy it! The purpose of a shopping ban isn't for the ban itself as much as it is to get us to make better purchases and step back from shopping a bit to refocus. It sounds like this is a smart purchase, so I think breaking the ban is smart in this case.
