April - a LONG time YLF'er reminded me that I said that years ago. (Good memory, April). And now I'm chuckling all the way to loving my two boho blouses. (And my two pairs of flared jeans).

I'm very attracted to the prettiness of these blouses, so perhaps boho-light isn't that much of a stretch. After all, Urban Pretty is my style moniker. I reach for the orange one all the time because it's more covered than the white. And it matches my floral pumps.

Our styles evolve, and we always have the right to change our minds about fashion. It's fun to wear silhouettes that look and feel fresh.

As I mentioned in your blog post this morning, I seem to respond to the romantic and retro elements in a selected few boho items. For you, the retro would be more 70's, but there is also a certain folkloric element in some 40s fashion, and a love for draped florals that is a shared trait of boho and 30's stylings. These are the connections that draw me to a boho inspired item.

We can borrow boho and make it our own --- and blend in a bit with all the festival stylings around us!

Sometimes I do wonder if manufacturers don't have an interest in keeping boho going. It's easy to produce. When you use prints and cut flowing shapes, you don't need high quality fabrications or careful construction. And when women try them on, they're more likely to fit their bodies as well as their expectations to be "in style." When I look at the clearance racks at someplace like Kohls or Target, I see acres of what I call "boho boneyards." For every well designed boho item, there seem to be a dozen that were hastily produced. That's why I like to train my eye on YLF!

Love it...after all...a girl is allowed to change her mind...especially about what suits her in fashion!

I love your new pretty pieces! I'm not sure what makes them boho, but I love the vibrant colors and the feminine vibe:)

Sure - I would admit to changing my mind frequently, BUT I do know that most time's it is a temporary change. I'm open to any ideas, which doesn't mean I'll buy into them, but I look and think and imagine, maybe try, and then many times go back to my original opinion. Maybe I've never identified with a specific style moniker the way you have, Angie, and that's something I often wonder about. When I look at the two blouses you have shown above, I see quite crisp and restrained boho , not the super loose and voluminous looks with lots of embroidery .....which keeps these two blouses firmly in your style territory.

I am on the same page with you Angie - I would never identify myself with typical boho look, but I do love flares and pretty blouses. So I guess I am doing boho-lite fairly often.
I have also changed my mind when it comes to wearing various pants that are length shortening, such as cropped flares - that being the consequence of embracing JFE and not always striving to lengthen my leg line.

I like Lisa's point ... I think what you do so well Angie is adapt trends to your style, so you have a style that is both consistent and up to date. I suppose that's why you're the stylist!

Lisa, you’re dead right. The blouses are crisp and therefore "restrained boho". That’s why they weren’t a style stretch. Nice assessment. Perhaps we evolve our styles incrementally each season, so after 5 years - there’s more of a noticeable change. Then we turn direction and come back home. That has happened to me - and it sounds like it happens to you too.

I can very much relate. Looking through all the finds this morning and having spent a bit of time trying on blouses yesterday at Anthropologie, I'm very much attracted to the softness, lightness, and prettiness (particularly in spring and summer) but I have a hard time reconciling it with my more classic style and hourglass/pear shape. I do love your blouses because as Lisa pointed out there is a crispness to them.

RE: short hair and peasant blouse: because of the 1970 hair parted in the middle cliché, I think we tend to associate an expansive, frilly peasant blouse with long locks flowing down. That is why wearing it with very short hair creates a surprise, a new look I think. You can play with earrings scarves and/or hats?

Yes, I've changed my mind about cropped flares and cropped pants in general after seeing on YLF that they can look modern and cool and not frumpy if proper attention is paid to the fit and styling. I've also changed my mind about being a forever short haired girl and am growing it long (of course it is only chin length right now so may only be a matter of time before I decide it's too much work and run to my stylist to chop it off).

I've 'turned' against a lot of styles and only came to boyfriends last year when I saw a pair with patchwork. I have also accepted leggings as pants, mostly due to working in the bakery. I think the biggest thing now is, pretty feminine florals and ruffles. I was trying to get rid of those, and now I want them back...

I've changed my mind about cropped straights and flares.

Unfortunately, both the jeans I cut off (flared light wash, straight dark wash) aren't really working, because I'm realizing I want a crisper bottom definition to the pant leg and they tend to flop and stretch -- so I'm feeling chopper's remorse. A hemmed pair I bought seems just the thing though.

Also like you and Tanya, I'm attracted to the prettiness of boho lite tops, but prefer a heavy dose of structure in the rest of the outfit for me to feel comfortable.

I remember that too Angie the white one because it it's peplum was to my eye not in the right place. Lol. You broke the whole peplum structure down foe me into human bite size chunks. Lol. Now I understand this one at least.

Hah nice one Angie ^^ YES I felt maybe some boho-lite would through when we first got the Love Story flares (even though you were wearing them more glam-styled), and then the eyelet peplum was a fun surprise! I change my mind about fashion things all the time, it's part of the fun Nothing drastic recently, just continuing my very slow move towards more pretty and a little more classic.

I have certainly changed my mind recently about frayed crops and about harem pants. The fabulous examples in your blog posts and on the forum have won me over.
I am about as bodycon as Twiggy, but have learned to like wearing tube skirts.

I change my mind all the time, especially after seeing forum members styling new items. I have fashion ADHD, I think. Luckily I'm restrained by the fact I can't throw out my closet and start over every time I see new styles here.

BTW, I tried on your CeCe blouse today but even the xs was too big at the top and sleeves were too long. Did you have yours altered? Dillards has this blouse for under $54 plus an extra 30% off right now.

I also change my mind all the time. But that's all part of the fun isn't it? I think I am going the opposite way to you in that I am probably less boho than I used to be. Over the summer I purged or hacked the sleeves off some boho style peasant blouses and embroidered tops. It's not a style I am drawn to anymore. But my flares are staying. For now.

I agree with skylurker that you don't look boho even when you're trying. I think because you always wear too much structure for boho.

Joy, that blouse is even bigger on me. But the sleeves are a good length for my gorilla arms and the drape is incredible. I wear it muu-muu, and far less fitted than on the model. It works.

Angie I think crisp and polished are your style themes that make everything you from peasant blouses to button down shirts.
I have an old Trinny and Susannah book where they model different styles from Boho to Rocker to Minimal and Androgynous. Although I am less intrigued by Ice Queen and Diva, there are bits about all of them that speak to me.
Is eccentric/minimal/gamine/androgynous/boho a moniker?
