Angie - I really appreciate the loads of personalized, absolutely free advice you give to each of us every day. Honestly, I don't know how you do it all. You are just a whirlwind of energy and I admire the way in which you've been able to focus your passion in such positive ways. I hope it is a comfort to you in difficult times to know that you have a tremendously positive impact on your Dress for Success clients and for each one of us here at ylf. Sorry to gush so, but you do have a unique gift for both style and communication, and how rare is that? I have come to truly respect your opinions, even if I don't always take to them right away (cough~harem pants!~cough)
So, on to having Angie for the day...
I'd want help with a closet looky-loo and then a shopping trip emphasizing waist-up items for work, as the vast majority of my interactions with people at work are with me behind a desk, them standing over me.
(I'm a receptionist at a fairly conservative, "upscale environment" pharma company).
Actually, I think this could be a great blog post Angie... Tips on hiring a style consultant!
We probably can't all reasonably hire you for a personal session because of time and geographical constraints. I would love to have some nitty-gritty details on:
1. What is reasonable to expect and what's not (i.e. you're a style consultant, not a magician and how much can one reasonably expect to fit into a 2-hour, 4-hour, 6-hour session).
2. How much money it would be reasonable to be prepared to spend on a one-time shopping trip with a consultant ($200, $500, $2000)? I know it could be as high as one can manage, but at what point on the lower end of the scale is it really just an exercise in frustration?
3. What sort of preparation you expect your client to do ahead of time.
I can't think of other questions now because I've never hired a style consultant before!
