Sal, I wear a lot of pattern, too. And I'm finding it gets in the way of my carrying the new patterned bag I bought (but haven't removed the tags yet--still thinking). So I fear floral footwear would be difficult.
Style Fan, you wear a lot of solid colors, and I can envision you wearing a floral shoe if the right one came along. Must be warm tones, and perhaps a bit chunky in style, yes?
Brooklyn, I think I've seen yours in an outfit, and I thought they were gorgeous. If you find them a bit difficult to work into outfits, then that tells me a lot right there. Because I think they would be a natural for you, especially in the print that you chose. Though maybe the red isn't quite close enough to the burgundies you favor?
Joyce B, high versus low contrast is a good observation. Low contrast is key for me (even in summer). The pattern on the Campers is deliberately asymmetrical between feet. I kind of like that about them. If it's just haphazard, I think it might bug me.
Diana, yes, the abstract florals are so lush. I think Ted Baker does a good job with floral footwear, though, despite the smaller scale of shoes.
kkards, those are some gorgeous choices. I would like the Alice and Olivia for myself, and I can see you in the Cole Haans--brilliant choice! The Rag and Bone pair is so nice and muted (a plus in my book).
lisa p, haha! Yeah, no, I'm not sure! This is a trend that I'm drawn to. I may be passing on floor-grazing wide-legs for now, but floral footwear tugs at me in some way.
Jenn, I can see you in those gorgeous western embroidered ones. Interesting how the embroidery trend has a deep, ancestral pull for you!
Bijou, those patterned boots are awesome--and you were way ahead of the curve with them. Fantastic supporting acts, too. That's some inspiration.
Sterling, yes, getting the right fit throws another challenge into the mix. For me, I would want to find something that is in a price range I'm willing to spend on this trend, too.
Angie, good thought. Maybe they will be around at Christmas, and/or perhaps there will be another pair that I like even better by then.
JAileen, ha! yes, that's the question--why not? I can't quite envision them for me. But trying them would be the way to really find out. Maybe these aren't quite the ones. I will say, that as KL notes, Camper has not been a great fit for me in the past, so that's part of my hesitation. They are supposed to be really comfy, but for me, they have not been a "wow" fit.
Traci, those Free People boots are so pretty. Very much in the Western vein, yet a Western go-to-town style.
Janet, I agree--a bit low-contrast works best with my style, too. Also a bit of edge would be good. I actually really like some of the Doc Martens prints from the past--not exactly floral--but the Old Masters kinds of patterns they've had. The boots themselves are usually too clunky for me.
Beth Ann, I'll be watching to see how you wear yours!
KL, yes those brocade flats are a lovely example! That print is right up my alley.
always trying, hey, I'm happy to enable-er-inspire!
Jenni NZ, those are a gorgeous pair of statement booties! They are really nice with that artful outfit. They really fit with your creative, eclectic style.
Runs with Scissors--yes, birds, too!I kind of like the Asian feel of the pattern. Interesting to hear your experience. I have been admiring a lot of the Allegria floral designs in my online browsing!
