I must've gone mad but I bought a beige trench!

Yeah, it is dangerous for me to go to that leather Danier store. I have spotted this beige trench there and could not resist.
It is beautifully made and the leather is buttery soft. I really liked the color even though I do not like how beige colors look on me. Somehow this one felt very different. My hubby had his doubts about the color when I pulled the trench out of the bag but when I put it on he liked it on me as well.
So I need your help once more: does this color work on me? Is it versatile enough for my wardrobe? Is is a good investment piece (it is not expensive for the leather coat but still $200...)
Right now my only trench is a purple London Fog one so I can do with a lighter trench in my collection. As usual - I want to keep it only if it is 10.
What do you think? Also I have tried it with my grey and tan boots and plum booties - would they all work with this trench?

OMG this is gorgeous. It does make you look a bit pale so I think you'll need to wear a colourful scarf with it like in #6 x

Okay, I say keep. I was picturing more of a khaki colored beige, but this leather is basically the color of my Frye Rory boots. I like the warm, subtly red tone to this leather and don't think it washes you out like a yellow-based khaki would, especially with the color you feature in your outfits.

I may have to pay a visit to Danier the next time I'm in Vancouver/BC. You have made some amazing finds there!

Wow that is a gorgeous coat, nice buy! It is classic and will last you YEARS!
I see your concern about it being close to your own skin tone.I don't think it washes you out, but it is more flattering with some color next to your face.So I think either worn with a scarf or open at the top with colorful turtleneck or shirt underneath, you would look always fabulous

I like it, yet I don't love it. I am not opposed to this color on you but if you are looking for a ten, this might not be it. IMO.
I suspect I will be in the minority though. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of long leather jackets or trenches, although I suspect they will be so "in", due to that 70's resurgence. I am one of those who likes leather in smaller doses.
You'd look gorgeous in a potato sack so that's clearly not the issue

I agree with the above - it's gorgeous and neutral, but you need the extra colour near your face......sooooo either look for it in a darker colour, or wear with scarves and enjoy! Don't forget your dark glasses to complete your undercover agent look...

Wow... I also think it is beautiful. It fits you SO well and it is so interesting and different. As long as you add a colorful scarf next to your face, I think the color won't be a problem.

I find it hard to tell what the color is like because it looks so vastly different from one picture to the next. In some of them it appears almost pink while in others it's more of a sandy color. It definitely doesn't look like the kind of oatmeal, khaki color I was dreading when I opened this thread, but I'm still not so sure it's the best color for you. As I said it's a bit hard to pinpoint the color, but I would guess Jean has the coloring to pull it off.

I guess it depends on how you feel about always needing a supplementary item to wear it. I personally have a hard time committing to anything that requires special treatment to wear, but for some people, it doesn't bother them. If you'll always be wearing a scarf with this coat anyway, perhaps it doesn't matter as much as if it were a shirt or a dress.

Fit and style on you are perfect! I love it with the skirt. I think the color is neutral and would work on many women.

I like the color by itself (like Maya, I was expecting something more oatmealish...), but I'm not sure it does favors to your face by itself.

Sveta, now you know exactly what sort of coat silhouette looks amazing on you! The belted waist and slightly a-line shape is just fantastic. I am sort of on the fence about the color. On the one hand, I could see this working so well for you in the spring (or even fall), but on the other hand, I don't think the color is a 10. How do *you* feel in it? That's the key question :).

It's a gorgeous coat, but while the color isn't bad on you, I don't think it's doing anything for you either. And I can't tell for certain from the photos, but to me it seems to want soft pastels to go with it, rather than the bold reds and blues you've paired with it, and I don't know if you wear a lot of those colors. I actually think it might work better on you with paler scarves and clothes because it will give you more of a monochromatic look. But again, this is all based on the fact that I can't discern the exact color from the photos. It *is* a really beautiful coat, though, so hopefully I'm wrong!

Oh, Sveta, first of all you look wonderful. But, in my opinion, the trench is close but no cigar. I love the cut and style on you, but I feel like the color doesn't do you justice.

Personally, I love it on you. It's a nice neutral that will be especially good with Spring clothes, and the leather adds an extra luxurious feel to it.

The color does not wash you out, by any means, and looks great with your colorful scarves.

The color itself appeals to my love of neutrals But I take it that it did not come in other colors?

It would be a great spring color, but do you have to worry about much rain (water spots)?

I do agree that it needs a scarf color next to your face (also to protect the collar from skin oils).

This is a hard one because it appeals to me on SO many levels for you, but the color isn't exactly *perfect* for you. . .

This coat is a wonderful style for you and looks to fit you perfectly! So flattering! I'm not crazy about the color though - seems to be a bit pale for your skin. Do you love it? It certainly is not a bad color - but, if you want a "10" - then I'd return and wait for that "10" to come along - it will eventually!

Well, opinions are almost equally divided between "keep" and "pass". What is a girl to do? I think I need Angie!!!
This coat really caught my eye in the store and mostly because of the color. It was so unusual between all other colors there and had something very appealing to me.
I have put it on and liked it - color and all but was not sure about the stand up collar. My thought was that if it had a bigger collar I would buy it. Then I wandered about the store, tried other jackets and coats on and in the end came back to this one again. I found I do not mind the collar any more and actually like it...
I do not mind wearing scarves or turtlenecks with this coat. Actually I do not like the feel of any coat on my bare neck: if it is cold enough for the trench it is cold enough for me to cover my neck.:-) I am also pretty pale today and have no make up on so I am afraid I would not look good in any color today!:-)
Does it sound to you as I an trying to convince you (and myself) in something?:-)

I think I need to mule this over for the next two weeks and make up my mind...

If the stand-up collar was your only concern - then certainly keep it as I love the stand-up collar for variety! There are some leathers that absolutely look and feel fab and it seems like this is one of those

I think between your plum trench and this leather trench, you'll look good in any trench weather!

Sveta, I'm voting "keep" if you and DH like this color as you can see it in r/l better than we can. From the photos taken outside it looks like a great color with your hair and skin tone. You will probably always want to wear a scarf or turtleneck to protect the leather from skin oils anyway. I read Brenda Kinsel's free E-book from Angie's Friday blog and thought of these sections when I saw you in this coat:

.... When celebrities wear colors that repeat
their skin tone, especially in lustrous fabrics, they just look yummy, dewy, and/or
glowing. Jennifer Hudson might be in a caramel-colored gown; Felicity Huffman
might be in a powder puff soft shade of pink. Look for peachy tones, pinky ones,
honey tones, or dark caramel-colored tones. The softer the color, the more
vulnerable and beautiful you look.

...But look at an item you might wear a lot, like a leather jacket, and find it in a pearlized version of your hair, eye or skin color. This will add luster to your face every time you wear it.

This concept is new to me but this coat may have just the right tones to blend with your skin in the way that Brenda is describing. The important thing is how you feel wearing it.

I'm changing my vote to "Keep" because I'm sure the color is much better IRL - and if its the stand-up collar that you were concerned about, then I think that is a non-factor! That collar looks great on you and makes the coat look more sculptural and unique!

Very, very nice on you. It has a warmth to the beige that I really love. The style is soft and edgy at the same time. And, ohhh ... so very pretty with the orange scarf in the last photo. Orange looks fabulous on you!!! This jacket is a great choice. There's nothing blah and boring about it at all.

I love everything about it except the color (and again, the color isn't *bad*, it's just not your best color), but if you and your husband think the color works, then that's all that matters! The advice to choose something close to your skin tone is kind of what I was getting at when I said I might like it better with soft pastels rather than the reds and blues you showed it with in the first set of photos. But that means it will be great for spring, and it seems like it will also look lovely with browns in the fall.

You really seem to love it, so I vote keep.

I think there is big difference between a beige trench and a beige leather trench. Leather has so much depth, textural interest and shine! I vote keep, especially if you are willing to wear it with a red scarf.

Wow, Sveta, what a gorgeous coat on you. The fit is unbelievably perfect and I like the color in the indoor shots--it looks warmer. The color in the photo taken outside looks like it washes you out a bit. I think you can get away with it as long as you have color near you face. I don't know whether that is a deal breaker for you or not. I think it's a 10 in terms of style and fit--color, I'm not so sure. I didn't read through the other comments so I'm curious to see what the others have to say. Tough decision!
