Had a birthday last week and I am pushing 60. I LOVE Angie's post today. The ensemble is supremely creative and edgy at the same time. I have all these pieces in my closet. So I repeat, I can wear this but should I? Astro is clueless on this one.

Thanks to everyone who posted! After your kind comments I felt like a million bucks!

I did wear this yesterday for a lunch date. My friend said she liked the outfit and I just started laughing. I told her the story of my indecision.... and I thought happily of all of you who encouraged me to JUST WEAR IT!

It was very comfortable. I think the pants are a bit baggy. It is a Vogue pattern I sewed myself.

Marley-for me, it is about being age appropriate. Since many pointed out being "covered" it was fine for me then.

Rhubarb girl's mention of "pattern matching" made me realize I don't have many spring scarves to wear with this. I tend to buy those for winter and warmth. Will think on that

I loooove it. You should not think twice, although I get it. I am 54, and a Kindergarten teacher. Most of my colleagues happen to be young 30- somethings. I often wonder if I am pushing trends beyond my age limit. Is there an age limit? I go back and forth on this, BUT you look amazing, and should not have a doubt. I think I'll do the same. If I feel good, I'll wear it! Thanks for the inspiration.

I'm glad you wore your outfit and felt happy in it. It looks fresh, modern, and totally stylish. But, as another woman in the middle of her sixth decade, I do understand where you are coming from with your "but should I wear it?" hesitation.

I'm thinking we older women need to reframe that question to "why SHOULDN'T I wear this?" when we check ourselves in the mirror. If we can come up with something reasonable like I'll be too warm/cold, or there is a stain on my shirt, then we can go back to our closets. Otherwise we need head out the door with our heads held high and a smile on our face. If someone doesn't like what we are wearing,, well who the h%## cares--we are too old to indulge in that kind of teenage nonsense.
