I'm sorry I've been scarce... We took a vacation to California and it's been crazy catching back up on life since returning!

I HAD TO BUY the Anthro kimono from Angie's post. This may have been the easiest purchase I've ever made. Hands down.

After the outfit pics, I'm showing you the hair cut I got right before the trip. It was a fun experiment and neat to have something edgy and cool for the trip, but I struggled with styling it, and ultimately didn't feel like myself. It wasn't the smartest thing to do before vacation... Oh well. As you can see from the outfit photos, my hair is normal again... Thus the extra head shot - proof that I'm back.

I'm also showing you my favorite top that I wore on the trip. I don't get to wear it in FL much... And finally, instead of just scenery pics, I'm showing you how Ethan modeled in the scenery. I thought you guys would enjoy that.

ETA: forgot the accessories that went with kimono outfit. I got two new artsy rings in CA to go with my Asheville artist ring... (Last.photo)

That kimono looks like it was made for you. I like the edgier haircut quite a bit, but your normal cut also suits you perfectly, so no need to change a good thing (but sometimes it's fun... and important!... to try something new, even if you don't end up loving it as much as hoped). As always, I adore your elegant/edgy style, from hair to makeup to clothes to accessories.

I'm a little jealous of how much control Ethan has over his body and balance, and how at-ease he looks in his skin. From everything we've seen here, you're raising an incredible young man. Can't wait to keep hearing/seeing more of his story over time.

And as for Ethan, he did some downright terrifying things on this trip, but as you pointed out, Sarah, he has such control that I did have to breathe deeply and trust that he had it. This photo is where he did a back flip that almost brought me to my knees...

Glad you are back. You look great in the kimono outfit. The cobalt top is beautiful, I can see why it's your favorite. I was surprised because it se bright color is a departure of your more neutral palette, but you wear color soo well. The pictures of Ethan are awesome. He is so talented, brave and fearless.

Emily, it had a harsh transition between the shaved part and the top that was intentional on the part of my hairdresser, but I couldn't make peace with it so I kept fighting it... I couldn't just give in to the style he planned and executed.

Thanks for the info about the haircut. I've been wanting to go back to a haircut I've had in the past--incidentally very similar to your "normal" hair--but it can be hard to communicate with a stylist (even a trusted one) about a new shape. So, I appreciate knowing what works/doesn't work for others, and why. BTW--BOTH haircuts look fab on you.

Hi Sarah I've missed you and Ethan! I thought of you last night when I picked David up from the airport after the snowboarding trip to the South Island ( stayed in Wanaka and Queenstown if you wish to Google. Ski fields Cardrona and Treble Cone). It went well and he says his snowboarding is improving. When I picked him up I thought hey, where are Sarah the White and Ethan? Ethan's flips are scary but amazing. Is the skyline one in San Francisco?
I like your edgier cut and cobalt top but also back-to-normal cut and kimono. I had another super short cut yesterday- post coming right up x
