Last night I went to Danier Leather to return the blue jacket - no point in waiting I figured. The same sales assistant (a young lady named Shannon believe it or not) that waited on me the night before was there. I mentioned to her that I would be returning the blue jacket as I had some doubts that it was exactly what I was looking for. She knew I had originally wanted white and said she had one she wanted me to try on. But when we got to the rack, it was the one that Suz had linked to in my thread about returning the blue jacket. I reminded her that this was the one I had just returned last night in both the medium and large. She smiled and said "oh I know...but you didn't try on THIS exact one". I must have had quite the puzzled look on my face because she then told me they just got another shipment in of this white jacket this morning and the staff had been commenting that they seemed shorter. I thought I would amuse her by trying it on and was blown away at the difference. It looked significantly better than the two I had tried on just the day before which had arrived via my Customer Service order. Remember I had this same issue with my black jacket - same jacket but with two different fits?

She told me that each Danier leather jacket is cut by hand and so no two jackets are exactly the same. I didn't know they were cut by hand. She then told me the the staff have found quite frequently that the second shipment of a new product is often cut shorter than the original shipment and they did not know why. She felt the second shipment quite often fit like a petite.

I asked her to hold it as I wanted to return Saturday morning with a dress and try it on with that as well - I really want one that can work with both dresses and trousers.

I went back this morning and tried it on again and bought it. The sleeves are too long but have zippers at the bottom so I've unzipped them and just folded them up for now. Unless you can see something glaringly wrong with this jacket, I am keeping it and loving it. It is EXACTLY what I was looking for when I started this crazy search. And as you can see by a few quick stylings below, is very versatile. It borders on too long with my black sheath dress but I'm ok with that. Once the sleeves are shortened, the entire arms will fit a bit better as well because they will lay properly. Right now the leather is bunching up a bit.

What do you think? Is this MY jacket?

P.S. My one dilemma is that taking it to Danier to have the sleeves altered will mean I won't have it back for about three weeks. I'm wanting to wear it now so do you think it looks ok with the sleeves folded back for now and then once the real heat of summer arrives, I can take it them to have the sleeves altered? Or should I really get them altered now?

BTW the last pic is the first jacket I got - exact same style and size. Look at the difference. Lesson here is if one Danier jacket in your size doesn't fit, try another one in your size. It may be different.
