I have been on a clothes-buying tear ever since I found YLF two years ago, partly because right around that time I lost a whole bunch of weight and had to replace my entire wardrobe, right down to the shoes. At this point I have spent my entire (very generous) clothing budget for the year already, and it's only August. Not only that, but every closet in the house is full to bursting! This madness must end!

The good news is that I finally feel like I have a complete and well-functioning wardrobe. The bad news is that I'm realizing that every season there are going to be new things coming along that tickle my fancy and say "buy me!" But the other good news is that I've planned my outfits in advance for two weeks in a row now, and that exercise gets me into my closet and reminds me of how many beautiful things I already have, and pushes me to use them in new and fun ways.

So.

I think I am really ready to step off the buy buy buy treadmill and concentrate on enjoying and wearing the beautiful things I already have. I am going to shop my closet between now and the end of the year, and cultivate an attitude of gratitude about what I own already. We are going on a trip in December and I have a little money set aside to buy a few things for that, but otherwise I. am. done.

I don't think I'm going full on "don't buy anything, no matter what," but I am definitely going to be shopping my budget., which at this point is nonexistent I might splash out some allowance money for a burgundy or forest green scarf here and there, but no more major purchases for this girl for quite some time.

And come the new year, I am seriously considering a "12 items for the year" project. If I took all the money I've spent so far this year and divided it by 12, I could have bought some things that I thought I couldn't afford, and that might be an interesting change.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. We now return to our regularly-scheduled programming.
