I was invited to a Chabad Jewish Orthodox wedding in July. I am struggling to find a dress. I culled most of my dress collection last year because I wasn’t wearing them. No regrets here because I kept my faves, however, they better suit cooler seasons so I do need to find one for July. It’s a late afternoon event with dinner and dancing afterwards.
Here comes my pickiness…. I am likely to be responsible for my mom who is handicapped, so being able to move easily is important. I want something I can dance in and something in which I will not overheat, but also something that is still in keeping with my sleek long lines style. I do not suit most A line dresses or fit and flare shapes. I am not fond of sparkles or beaded dresses. No red, white or black. No floral patterns or polka dots and perhaps no patterns. If I find something soon, I still have time to knit a colorful summer shawl or cropped kimono jacket as an accessory although I don’t want to count on that. I have been looking at blue, green and blue-green. Grey and Navy can also work although navy can get too dark. Sleeveless may be okay although then I have to have a topper which may not stay in place and also may be too warm.
The Farm Rio lace dress is polyester so I’m worried it may feel warm despite the lace. It also isn’t as sleek as I prefer, although it does look like there is some shape. It may end up in the big green lace tent category. My guess is it will be the best color for me of the three I ordered. It may be more suited for cooler weather.
