How much metallic is too much?

I have been looking for the perfect silver bag for several years. I finally found it. Yea! It is a Furla Capriccio Tote that I found at Saks Off Fifth.

My intention was to use it when I wear silver shoes. Recently someone here (I forget who) said she would only wear one metallic thing at a time. Would it be too much metallic in an outfit to use this with silver shoes? What do you think?

If you are a matchy matchy type gal - shoes and bag should not be a problem.
I know a girl that wears silver shoes, purse and sequined head band. She can pull it off.
You have to do what is right for you. Think this is one of those “ no wrong answers”

I would happily wear the bag with metallic shoes. I would skip the headband.

No. Not too much. Personal taste only. For example. If I had silver shoes on I’d likely wear a long silver necklace. If you think adding the bag is too much with the necklace and shoes, just lose one of them.

I often wear a couple metallic pieces in the same or tonal family at a time.

I think it is not too much , silver bag and shoes, I even wore sliver necklace in my last post. I think it is very versatile accessories. I vote to buy.

Have never heard about that "rule" (about wearing only one metallic item at a time) before. It sounds a bit strange and rather boring. If you were to follow it strictly, you would likely have to choose between wearing a watch and one ring.

Personally, I love silver and will happily wear several silver items at a time. They echo my silver grey hair and feel very natural to me.

Your silver grey tote looks really great. And as you prefer to dress in cool colours (as far as I remember), this bag will probably prove to be a very versatile item. I vote: Buy the bag and wear it with as many (or few) metallic items as you personally prefer!

It is not too much metallic with the shoes. I have a silver bag that I use with everything. When something matches it I am extra happy.

I think two pieces together is great. For me, three pieces together is when it looks a little much to my eye, however this does depend how large the items are. I think some little silver earrings would be fine with a silver bag and shoes, but a large silver statement necklace might be too much.... Depends how maximal you like your style to be too.

Dear fabbers, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I’m so glad that you think it isn’t too much, especially since I received the bag this week! I have bought and returned a number of silver bags that turned out to be the wrong size, wrong color, or had leather that didn’t feel good, etc. This one is identical to a baby blue one I bought a couple years ago, except for the color, and it feels fabulous!

There’s a such thing as too much metallic? Says the one with silver shoes, bag, belt, pullover, T-shirt, watch, earrings, necklace, bracelet, scarf, etc. I have both magpie and matchy-matchy genes so I tend to like shoes and bag to match or *go* or shoes and bag to do so. My silver clutch doesn’t hold much and my silver tote is broken so hasn’t seen action in ages but I wear my silver toned watches and jewelry without giving them a second thought.

Oh, I am pretty maximal and wear little color so metallic silver is like a color to me to give more life to all the gray I wear.

Not too much at all. Now, if you wore silver shoes and carried this silver bag while wearing metallic pants and a lamè blouse and big blinged out jewelry and a silver hat, it might be a bit much in a Tin Man kind of way.
But this bag with matchy shoes would be pretty to me

I should probably refrain from answering, as I tend to be very comfortable wearing metallic shoes, bags and jewelry at the same time. If I had a metallic jacket I would skip the bag, as that would be a larger item. I say go with your comfort level and smile your way out the door!

I have dreamed of having a monochromatic outfit of silver , probably silver jeans, striped top with silver as on color stripe, silver jacket, bag, belt and shoes. I also have silver socks that I wear with silver sneakers and a silver scarf from Nordstroms last fall. If they can see me from the space station, at least I'm not invisible!
